I really enjoyed that king hunt in the middle of the board. I paused the video when you said "Can you find the mate in 7?" and nitially thought "It's a mate in 3 if white does the natural move, so what else can white do?" It was quite funny to see that white is basically forced to take a knight to stay alive, but ends up further and further in Black's territory until it's completely trapped. It's often a bad idea to move your *queen* into the middle of the board in the opening, but you definitely don't want your king coming to the seventh rank!

since watching your incredible video regarding the scholar's mate defense. I havent lost to it since. And as it seems about 50% of the random players I encounter attempt this tactic. Today i played someone trying scholars mate. Twice they offered me a draw (likely because the trick wasn't working) I declined twice. After a couple of more moves. They resigned. Your channel really deserves to have over 100k subscribers due to its wonderful utility. Your knowledge will drastically help keep people interested in playing the game instead of being discouraged losing in humiliating fashion due to chess tricks. It’s very risky if you don’t remember all the moves or you don’t see a trick that the opponent plays, and you’ll just be down a bunch of material if you mess up. But still, I love playing the traxler against people since it is so fun to crush my opponents. Also, a counter to the traxler is just capturing the pawn with the bishop and giving a check, and then defend e4 with the pawn so the knight can’t go there and you’ll just be up a pawn, also, the opponent can’t castle since they have to move from the bishops check.

Yes. White does not have to defend e4 if they retreat the bishop after pawn capture, cause the knight does so anyway. And if the knight is attacked it can still go for the fork. Either avoid the liver or play the line suggested by the engine

As a fried liver user in 1500 elo, I have been crushed by this before, but I started seeing it so much that I had to learn to counter it. When I play against fried liver, I prefer playing something like F5 since it's less common and likely they don't know how to counter that.

Sensi there is also a forced checkmate in Ke3 variation. If after Qh4. Nxh7 (which leads to forced mate in 3) First Qf4+ kd3. Nb4+. now the king is forced to move on e2 and Qf2# There is also force mate in 4 Nxh7. Qf4+. Now if king goes on e2 then Qf2+ now king is forced to d3 After d3 there are two checkmate. First after kd3 Nb4+. King is forced to take e4 and Qf4# Second After kd3. We can play Nc5+ now king is forced to c3 and Qd4#

Great question! 0-0 works as well with the same idea. However, the engine slightly prefers Rf8 over 0-0 because after castling, White can play Qh5 and the position looks dangerous for Black with checkmating threats.

Thank you for your support and the sub! Regarding your question, you are asking about why 9... Qxg3 as shown in the video. and why not 9... Qd4+ right? Because after 9... Qd4+ White can simply play 10. Kg2 and if you take the bishop 10... Qxc4, our rook on h8 is hanging so white can capture with 11. Nxh8. Remember, we already sacrificed 2 pieces, that's why we need to bring our rook to safety first and then only win the bishop and knight back. Like many other of these destroy your opponent videos, it assumes that you are playing against a relatively weak opponent that wants to trick you believing that you don't know the right moves. It is not beautiful chess, it is more like Poker or a game of chance.

That requires black to play 4. Nxe4 to open up the lightsquared diagonal. The only real blunder by black in the fried liver is to play 6. Nxd5 which opens up the F-file for whites queen. Well that and not seeing the mate threat at all.

You can't DESTROY THE FRIED LIVER ATTACK if white plays correctly, so he had to ignore white's best lines. 6.Kf1 line is also supposed to be better for white after 9.d6.

I have learned the first line a bit differently. You are actually able to win a queen in line 1. It starts with Kf3 Qf6 Kxe4 Qf4+ Kd3 and here starts the madness - d5 (brilliant nove according to the computer. The bishop is threatened and so is the knight. If he tries to be greedy and instead of taking d5 pawn with bishop he takes the rook with the knight and also try to save the knight, Qe4+ Kc4 Qxc5# is beautiful checkmate) If he takes d5 with bishop, Qxd5 Nxh8 (most likely) and bammmm Bg4+ skewers the queen and you are winning

Black can just capture the knight Nxd6 defending the f7 square, White's queen on f3 is under attack and White's bishop on c4 is under attack too. Even if Black captures with the pawn cxd6 there is no checkmate with Qf7+ because Black has Kd8 and no more checks :)

We don't really care about giving away a pawn. Our goal is just to activate our bishop on c8 and the threat is to play Bh3+. Also, by playing d5, White is kinda forced to capture the pawn otherwise the bishop is not protecting his knight on f7. Essentially, we are gaining a tempo by sacrificing our pawn with d5.

You offered many variations but not BxP check instead of NxP.

That is the way white should capture the pawn: B x f7+, not N x c7. Chess engines give the advantage to white after white's bishop makes the capture. For that reason, I will not play the Traxler defense. Tiger Chess Pro and Stockfish prefer B x P -- if the play has proceeded to a board layout as envisioned by Chess Sensei after black has completed his 4th move with Bc5. That's a big "IF" too, isn't it? It would, however, be a catastrophic mistake if -- after white retreats his bishop to d5 and black plays Pd6 -- black were then to play Nf6 for forking black's rook and queen. In that event the Traxler variations can play out as Chess Sensei predicts them, beginning with B x f2+.
