Wood ash is just burnt wood so if you know someone with a fire pit (who burns wood) or a wood stove. Get the ash from it. I doubt if they sell it.

Baking soda is an acid neutralizer so I don't see the point of mixing it with two acidic compounds. It cancels their acidic nature.

That makes no sense. Baking soda is basic and both vinegar and lemon juice are acids. Combining them together will cancel each other out and just produce water.

I’ve used a white vinegar mixed with kosher salt and a little dish soap to kill weeds , I switched to cleaning vinegar, same as white vinegar but not as refined and is much more acidic, works best in the morning after the morning dew burns off and when it’s going to be a hot sunny day

I'm not sure what weeds they are spraying, but I've tried every variation of this homemade weed killer, and none of them do, kill weeds that is. They make them whither for a few days, but the roots remain alive, and they come right back.

Mixing baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and vinegar (acetic acid) causes a chemical reaction that produces a salt (sodium acetate) and water, as well as carbon dioxide gas. So you're spraying salt water on the weeds. When sodium bicarbonate (baking soda, NaHCO3) is mixed with lemon juice, an acid-base reaction occurs that releases carbon dioxide (CO2) gas in the form of bubbles. The reaction also produces sodium citrate, that prevents drastic pH changes.

In regular talk, used separately they change the ph. Together they cancel each others ph but create salt. So use separately for ph or just use salt, It cheaper but, salt will stop all things from growing in that spot for a long time. Most people just use vinegar, some use vinegar and salt.

@@glomontero6011 the weeds do grow back again so I don't think it kills the dirt but it's just easier and quicker than using a hoe. I wouldn't use it in a flower garden or in grass, just along driveways or on gravel etc, where you're not likely to plant/grow things.

I use only white vinegar on a hot day when the plants in my patio stones are begging for a drink. I pour the white vinegar on the cracks to prevent them from growing again. WARNING: do not white vinegar in your garden or in your grass you want to keep growing. The white vinegar actually depleted the nutrients in the soil . For you to use that same soil to grow is futile. So I’m told. Although I seem to have to do the vinegar thing again on my patio stones. Maybe the winter and rain dilutes the vinegar.
