About the engine eating shots, it's 100% intentional. That's why they made the engine be in front, so that it acts as a last minute way of defense against an incoming shell posing harm to the crew.

I like the Merk Mk.3D, and I usually bring it out in a full 11.0 BR alongside the M1A2. Honestly, it still performs admirably at 11.0 and I've probably survived more shots from top tier APFSDS including the 2A6 DM53 than as compared to the M1A2 or M1A1. That front engine block usually just soaks up all that penetration and the turret armor is a little trolly as well with those steep angles. It's main drawbacks however are as you mentioned, the slower reload rate and mobility. Just don't try to engage in close-quarters with it, you'll almost always lose. Mid to long range is where the Merk Mk.3D excels. I wish Gaijin adds the chains on the back though. If they can do mud flaps on the T80 series and Challenger 2. Pretty sure they can do chains.

It's such an interesting tank and it's built for purpose of urban warfare it had a hardened aluminum body and a front engine instead of a rear. It was built more for crew survivabikity more than tank survive ability yet its armor and shape can deflect most RPGS and shells, it's mainly susceptible to IED and tandem ATGM.

Well people are buying those turms+ka50 bundles, putting them in the same setup and they got uptiered while playing turms (9.7br) because of ka-50's br which is 10.3. Personally I gonna wait till the wintrer sale when gaijin will put more appropriate vehicle in a bundle with turms (more likely su-7bkm).

when this came out i just got the leo 2k so all i had was heatfs shell that couldnt pen this dam tank as a result i complained a lot about the grind and how this tank was overpowered when the 2a6 came out the merk was forgotten in my opinion both tanks are extremely powerful though many can say the 2a6 is just good in all categories and therefore superior the merk is just a modern heavy tank in one of the best top tier line ups

I beg to differ, complete BR difference makes the Merkava more powerful in my opinion. This thing can naturally see 9.0 down tiers. And there’s literally nothing in the 9.0-10.0 range the Merkava can’t just pen the strongest armor lol. Plus it’s been buffed so frontally good luck with even 3bm42. You’ll blow my engine and that’s it lol. So many Turms players getting mad right now.

true i use it on 11.0 alot paired with m1a2 but to be fair among all MBT its the slowest + bad reload + armor in which gaijin forgets to add (seriously 65 tons and has armor volume less than half of IPM1 there should be more especially the roof and front) and lastly its ammo is as wide and high as the darn hull worse than some soviet MBT (any hull penetration using dart will likely lead to ammo detonation note that the engine transmission and fuel tank combined only adds like 100-150mm of protection against kinetic rounds since a 450mm pen can go through the front to the back most reason why people cant pen the front is mostly due to angle of shot they shoot at it in an angle where the round goes out before it hits the crew compartment) the only survivability of this tank is the weird turret armor which tricks some people

For example the German Tech Tree, they put 1000 Variants of Leopards. They can easily put 100 Variants of the Merkava into this game. I think it's a huge missed opportunity by Gaijin, sadly.
