This track is utterly amazing and I don't think I'll ever get tired of listening to it. Just a quick story that some of you might enjoy: I've always been a pretty big fan of Destroyer, so I pre-ordered this album on vinyl before the release. Then a few months later I saw them play at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA during the Kaputt tour, and after the show was over, I felt compelled to buy the vinyl again at the merch table and go find Dan backstage to get his autograph on the record. Needless to say, everything worked out as planned. I got to meet one or my favorite artists for a brief moment and got a signed copy of an album that I still enjoying spinning immensely to this very day.

One of the defining tracks of my youth. There’s so much vastness, melancholy and lust for life in this composition, it’s almost unbearable. If the original album “Kaputt” resembled a time of partying, then “Bay of Pigs” would be the dawning day after, and “Laziest River” would be the fondwashed, melancholic memories of that time. To me, Kaputt is one of the great soundpieces of the past twenty years.

Yea maybe it's me imagining this but i feel like there are references to Spencer in his work (like when he redid 'shooting rockets' on trouble in dreams). I feel like there is some sort of artistic rivalry between the two and while Dan is continuing on his upward trajectory, Spencer is on a downward trend. Spencer replied to 'Bay of Pigs' with his own 'epic' song "Marimba and Shit-Drums' and this is Dans reply to that.

A lot of modern music and musicians are overhyped including this guy, what cannot be disputed though is his talent. Like most great art/istes he's not frightened to steal other people's ideas and create something of his own in the process. Which is why I'm going to hit the repeat button and listen to this all the way through again. Thanks for posting.

The tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao The name that can be named is not the eternal Name. The unnamable is the eternally real. Naming is the origin of all particular things. Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations. Yet mystery and manifestations arise from the same source. This source is called darkness. Darkness within darkness. The gateway to all understanding.
