Thank you for covering these issues. My heart is boiling for my Ghanaians that are going through this sad issues. I agree with people in the area. I will say that our leaders are greedy, hate their own country, thieves. and hate people in their country. Leaders are looking at other ways to allow illegal miners to destroy our rivers, farms, lakes, rivers, forests, wildlife, and destroying everything that is good for our people and Ghana. The Chinese were able to get this far into Ghana's fauna and flora and cultural heritage to cause this magnitude of damage because of people disliking this reportage. We as Africans always lack a sense of common good unlike other races of the planet. Charlie, get life jackets in case something happens. Exposure will tell you that prevention is better than cure. This is more of common awareness. We need to learn so that we don't give the devil too much power as people. Life jackets can save lives in case the canoe capsizes. Just a little concern.

Almost every stream in Ghana has been turned into gutters by Ghanaians,the few rivers left and been destroyed by galamsey operatives. It's painful if we don't change our mind and strictly enforce the law on water pollution, Ghana will only have to use sea water or underground waters instead of nature's beautiful surface waters which are all been destroyed,and it will cost the country alot.

So what if Ghana government have already issued permits to the miners? Take their permits away and give their stupid payments (money) back to them. "People first before money". May be some of the people may have cancer and many other diseases that we may not know about. The people may want to seek the help of Scientists in some of the Universities in Ghana. News reporter, you are doing a good job for the coverage of this issue. God Blesses You and the News Media you work for. I am sad and angry. Can we tell world environmental bodies to talk to Ghana leaders and possibly punish them in some ways? Why would anyone leave this way in their own country?

@S E P No, all African countries are targeted to variant degrees. The Movie blood diamond was about the multinational companies fuelling conflict in Sierra Leon for diamonds. Liberia's conflict had foreign influences writen all over it. The French have most of West Africa under its domain. There is a level of coorporation among the political elite in most of the countries who seem to be unbothered. It is high levels of corruption, chaos, lack of strong institutions and political will that creates opportunities for foreign governments to exploit.

Are we just talking about it as usual or we are going to rise up and fight this evil? We love giving information, acquiring knowledge but PRACTICALLY doing nothing with it. There must be a day and time that we rise up for the next generation. These chiefs with all respect but be a LITTLE SERIOUS in life and CARE a little about the children unborn. They just lack vision n have no good thoughts for the citizens they rule. As the chiefs, if all citizens become plagued in the next 50 years, will they be kings over plagued dwellers?
