Its the "German Language" ! When you grow up as German and you are a "Dreamer" a Guy that think about the World...like Schmier does! The German Language give you the possebilies to dive deep down in your awareness, with German Language you can dive so deep down, to the begining of the living of creation -> "To God" ! Its true! Englisch is in his kind to speak and come across...more simple and on the surrface! Yes you can go deep...but most the time no one do it. When you speak in German on the Surrface and you make the language simple, you come across in Germany like a "Antisocial" and as a "Dump Stupid Idiot" ... Yes its true! So i belief that is "ONE" reason why englisch born people, have this feeling, when they talk with a intelligent German. And the "Left and Green Party" walk exactly in the opposide direction...to the stupid language! World Wide the last years! You the Younger, you have to FIGHT against this Bullshit! Sorry, my Englisch is not the best.... Beat it! 😀

I respect that he has an opinion. I think that's very important. I agree with Captain Jones that we should try to stop thinking in binary, left or right, black/ white etc. Reality isn't like that unless you're a computer and we aren't. Yet. If it gets too confusing, then yes go back to whatever processing was working previously. I admit I find it a little strange that he, as a German citizen, is talking about why borders are useless. What if someone told Schmier* that he would no longer be able to express his opinion? No more criticizing authority. No more metal, because it's subversive. We all maintain borders that start around ourselves and extend outward. This is individuality. In my opinion, it is also important. *DD gave his name very plainly before the interview

I agree with every word Schmier said, but its easy for successful musicians to say not to accept the system! Im currently jobless and frustrated buy my surroundings, how is rejecting the system going to put food on my table? Genuine question, not baiting.
@JBguitar-cj8pc5 жыл бұрын
No you make a good point. Metal and punk were started by adolescents who wanted to reject and be the opposite of the “corporate world” or whatever and he’s still got that mindset even though it technically doesn’t make a lot of sense on his part since his band is on a record label and that’s how he makes a living. Same can be said for bands like Rage against the machine (puke). But I guess it wouldn’t be “cool” or “metal” if he went up there talking about how great capitalism or the government is or about how borders are technically needed and the thought of not having them is insane lol. Maybe it’s an act. Idk.
@Olegstuff219864 жыл бұрын
@@JBguitar-cj8pc Well, he's also said many times that the labels are literally exploiting bands. For eg., he's criticised several times that the band gets basically no money from record sales. So it's not like he's a capitalism fanboy. However, he also understands that he can't "go around" the industry restrictions at the moment if he wants to stay afloat.

I dislike metalheads that tend to say which things belong to metal and which doesn't, because the core message of metal has always been about freedom. He says he is for freedom of speech, yet he does not understand how there could be right winged metaheads. I know it's only his opinion, but metal is free of any rule of ideology. There can be left or right metalheads, same as there is christian and anti-christian metal. It seems to me that he has not understood yet the notion of a "free world". Also, how he puts conservatives and nazis on the same boat is absurd, it's like saying that all leftists are communist. Geez.

@MK-oz2lf6 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't mean one is a Nazi but you're still a putz. More government does not mean communism or socialism. Back in WW2 Churchill had to raise taxes by 90% to fund the war. By your logic that means Churchill was socialist? That's fucking hilarious! As long as we live in a capitalist world in this late-stage capitalist era, less regulation only creates more unaccountable ruling class tyranny; regardless if the business is big or small. Growth for the sake of growth is destructive and especially if it continues with the vertical hierarchy structure in the private or government sector. "when someone says they got rich through hard work, ask them: whose?!" P.S. Libertarian? learn where that word came from. You're not a true libertarian, you only stole the word for your own agenda.

Thats cool man, I personally very much agree with what Schmier is saying, we all have opinions. Art is much more important than opinions. Its imperative to the protection of your mental health, not align your self too much with your opinions. Music is the ultimate form of expression aka art. And in my opinion metal is the ultimate form of music. Metal brings people toghter.
@olliec55646 жыл бұрын
This obsession with left and right is absurd. Any well rounded individual should be able to take elements of both sides. This need to align with one side doesn't make sense and shows a weakness of character. I'm from the UK and have voted for a number of different parties depending on who I thought would do a good job at the time (Both mostly terrible). Both left and right sides lie and talk utter nonsense, no one side is better. Once you make peace with the fact that nothing you do matters and everything is ultimately pointless, it frees you from these silly obsessions. You can actually start to enjoy life and take every day as it comes. Read a lot of comments on this video and both 'sides' are positing opinions as if they are 'facts', missing the point of most things by a few light years and then getting really angry when someone disagrees with them. Why are you getting so upset about this? Whats the point? You haven't understood what you are talking about anyway so why discuss it at all? Or is that why you are so angry. The fact that you don't understand what you are talking about and feel like a fraud, so anyone who disagrees is fake news or triggered because you don't know how to respond. 'What you have stated does not fit in with my blinkered world view, I will call you an asshole. I win. HA.'

I’ve always loved Destruction since I was a kid back in the 80’s. But music and musicians should just jam and keep their political views in the voting booth. I hate when I go to a concert and the lead singer starts spewing his political views. The last concert I went to was Metallica. At least James said “we don’t give a fuck who you voted for, we are here to jam!” And that’s the way it should be.🤘🏻

Their political ideas fuel the fiery narrative in the lyrical themes and has since the early days of Sabbath. They could not speak a word of what they believe but those songs say very loudly how these guys feel. Maybe them speaking their minds allows a glimpse in to what makes the music so potent.

I fully agree with Schmier. I grew up in the 80's thrash metal and hardcore punk scene, and we all HATED Republicans and conservatives with a passion, because they were middle-aged old-fashioned greedy war-mongering fascists who were anti-porn, anti-drugs, and anti-rock 'n' roll and pro-police, pro-military, and pro-Christian fundamentalism. Conservatism stands against rebelliousness and individuality and is all for conformity and out-dated traditions - in other words, the antithesis of everything that punk and metal represent. I don't know when it became popular for metal fans to be conservatives, but it's totally wack.
