I started after 5 expansions as well, figuring my way, always start with immolate. I like to chain 2 chaos bolts but we need to generate the shards first. Immo into conflag then incinerate. Once you have 4 shards shadowfury or infernal into Chaos bolts. Do not hard caste chaos bolt when there are people on you unless you have resolve up and can get a potential kill, youll just get interupted otherwise. Bait the kicks with spells like cataclysm, incinerate or fear so you can stand and cast Chaos bolts. When people are out in the open away from LOS I pop my cds with trinks and go all out. Note- While the bolt projectile is going towards the enemy you can cast shadowfury on top of the enemy and land both at same time allowing you to squeeze in another bolt post the stun. Very deadly combo as it can lead to a kill. Try to perfect this. Also double coil with havoc is insane. BG and skirmish a lot to get a feel for all this. Int mastery and haste are your priority.

Thats pretty simple mate, if youre against casters Fel Hunter for the purge and silence Succabus if youre against melee. But in 3s you wanna be running Fel hunter most if the time.

You get it by doing the green fire quest line that was back in mop. To start the quest line you have two choices. One is buy Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion from the AH or farm it by killing rares on isle of thunder.

My recommendation would be if you play primarily pve , stack the haste up and you can still manage, if you play pvp mainly , farm echos non stop and then buy a full kit of mastery 3 gear and be a raid boss

It should last 10 seconds since that is basically 35% the time of your infernal cast which is (30 seconds?).

best races? i see a lot of dwarves in the top rankings, i'm guessing because of the 2% increase to to crit dmg that helps bolts. but in my mind dark iron would be even better because you could use fireblood as an intellect boost with your badge for huge dmg, right? i guess it goes without saying that orcs are the best choice for horde always, but the alliance has more options with human, dwarf, dark iron, and void elves all being interesting and having their advantages

dwarves are mainly used for stoneform because locks usually get focused due to high amount of dmg if left alone. for horde id suggest orc for reduced stun duration . locks have alot of dmg already you should look for survivability or just pic something you find good to look at races dont really factor in till really high rating

I've been having the same question since I leveled a lock to 120, I've been stacking vers since I started and hit 1600 with it. But I went against another lock that stacked haste and he crushed it. Send twice as many bolts as I did and doubled my damage. Talked with him after and he was saying most higher end dudes stack haste over anything to get off bolts faster.

@@prometheusgtv7811 well have you seen the recent videos made by rextroy that test versa in pvp? First of all they reduced verse with 33%. Second of all, using for example versa gems actually increases the damage you take and increases dmg you do with a very small amount. Imo nowadays it would be better to stack up haste and mastery over versatility, because mastery does give us the % reduced damage taken, unlike versa

chaotic energies probably. If you have 50% in mastery your not only seeing a massive increase in damage you do but also a chance to do anywhere from a 1-100% increase of this bonus (it also does a similar percentage effect with damage reduction). this makes chaos bolts less consistent but potentially nuclear, especially when combined with dark soul and grimoire of supremacy. the math seems multiplicative not additive.

Playing as/vs destro wouldn't be as toxic of an experience if the rng infernals were nerfed. It's so dumb that someone may proc 3 infernals at once as their own is off cd, to get a free win basically (they can stack up the duration of grimoire to like 1min). Meanwhile some games they just dont get any procs and lose.
