When I first saw tanks up close I was surprised at how roughshod they were. Gnarly cuts and welds, thick paint hastily slathered on.

A great museum, I was there in May . I also went to Laboe, to see U boat 995. What a beautiful place, well worth a visit.

I recognized you visited Panzer Museum Munster. The front light of Panzer III seems to be repositioned on the fender, instead of the front hull on both sides of the spare tracks where the holes perhaps for the wire is still visible. Anyway the front lights of Panzer III is placed in the wrong spot. I visited Panzer museum Munster 20 years ago, thank you for sharing the video.

Might want to check a series called "workshop Wednesday" by the Australian Armour and Artillery museum. I just found it. They restored a Tiger I and are now working on a Jagdpanther and Stug III G. I had the same thought about great detail reference.

Does anyone know what the texture on the front plate of the T-34 at 13:23 would be called? Is that rolled steel?

Yes that is rolled steel, while the turret is casted.

Interesting, it looks like the tread-plate on the Pz-I's fenders is aluminum. Maybe the Hummel's too. The sheen of the bare metal and the way the paint chipped sure looks like aluminum. I also never saw a flipper over a Pz-IV's exhaust before either. Makes sense though. I liked the format, it just let's me absorb the detail without distraction.

@darkwood777 I wouldn't expect replacement parts to show that much wear.

I wonder if any of this armor still runs and drives? Andy should move a lot of tank kits with this video!
@Tomah4wkVideos2 жыл бұрын
Quite many still do. They have an annual event where they parade around a few of these. I have seen at least the the Pz IV, Panther, some SdKfz rolling around. Their Tiger I in this museum is a plastic mockup built by the German Bundeswehr after a real Tiger they had on loan earlier this century.

It's permitted in a historical context.I don't think scale models would violate that, but most companies don't take the chance.

You can’t buy or sell Nazi relics in Germany. eBay pulls any auctions that show a swaz except books for reference
