Funny enough, the Stormbreaker series mentioned in this video explains that the Korbinites created "Alpha Ray", a totally biomechanical construct, to be their champion first but it proved too mentally unstable. Hence the trials that resulted in Beta Ray Bill.

I'm 40 years old ever since I was 11 ,my favorite characters have always been wolverine and Thor. And that stands to this day without waver. However when it comes to origin stories my favorite is Beta Ray Bill. There's something about it that gets me chocked up and teary eyed every time I read it or hear about it. If an origin story can do that to me ,damn right that's my favorite one.;-)

That is great to hear Greg. It's always interesting to look back on how a comic series, a story arc, a certain issue or even a panel can impact you as a person. When I first started collecting comics a read Maximum Carnage, cover to cover for days on end. Between McFarlane, Larsen and Bagley always get my money just based on the legacy and emotions that bubble up when I think about my introduction to comics.

I'm Stoked ever since I bought thor 337 ( to be honest I thought he just got a suit upgrade) until I read the story and was hooked on Beta Ray ! When you hear mention that at the end credits we dont get a clip but we do get a sound bite of Tony building his first suit I almost see it as the (DOOM!) presented in that book of the coming of Surter hit I guess that ship has sailed but it's nice to imagine and who knows Marvel is good at exchanging stories or characters so it could be the Skrulls or the Broods with somehow the Possion of Surters body and Firesword!

I used to be huge into comics for about a 4-5 year span...buying, selling, trading cards & comics, etc. Beta Ray Bill was a character (much less, the whole Thor universe) that I just never bothered to look into. Thought he was rather goofy-looking. (Hell, when I first saw Deadpool, I thought he was a Spiderman rip-off...lol) But anyways, after watching this video, seeing his story...I’m thoroughly impressed!! If it is true that he’s gonna be in the movie, I’m kinda rather pumped to see his MCU debut!!

Actually, it has nothing to do with getting too close to Earth. Bill separates Thor from his hammer for more than 60 seconds which causes him to revert back to Donald Blake and Mjolnir to revert back to his walking stick. A little detail but you see in the frame where Bill mention that the stick was the hammer. I bought this issue (337) when it first came out and within a week they were selling them for $10. The BRB V Thor issue got me back into collecting and got me looking for more BRB issues.

My favorite hero of all time. I can't wait. I hope to God they don't screw him up in Gaurdians of the Galaxy. Next stage of the MCU should have sif, the fantastic 4, the silver surfer, and ass woopin for Thor, a mega intense fight with the hulk with sadly ends in loss, a battle over the soul stone (which makes me think black widows soul is trapped in the soul stone and will comeback), and Galactus which was a common for of Gaurdians of the Galaxy and Beta Ray Bills people. I'm stoked at what's to come. Rumor has it Wolverine is making a cameo as Hugh Jackman since; According to a new comic series for wolverine, wolverine has the space stone and is in charge of gaurding it. I found you a year and some change to late, but I am an old school 616 fan and I haven't read a book since 2010 with the big C.F. that Marvel did to the X-men and the Guardians Of the Galaxy when Major Victory and the originals where replaced. So I love Marvel but I am so still mad as hell at the way they've done my favorites and with How they've chosen to do the Mutants vs the Inhumans in the pissing contest between Fox and Disney who own marvel comics and the characters that Marvel published. Uh my main question is when in the world did the Gods of Marvel comics and Universal Beings start being able to die when in reality Gods can't truly die. Second question is Hercules is also an Avenger granted he's is space with the Black Lady with the airfro and I can't remember her name but back in the day when there where 3 teams of Avengers: The East Coast was all Captain America in New York and the West Coast that was lead by Tony Stark as Ironman then later lead by James Rhodes as Ironman Pre War Machine days and then as War Machine. Am I the only one who remembers in the Annunels i can't spell, anyhow back when Thor was litterly the strongest character there was due to the fact that he is a God! So I will always love Marvel but not what they continue to screw up my favorite characters or as the new word I learned Red Con them! Thanks for hearing me out! If you're talking about the comic from around 1978-ish, where Thor and Red Norvell battle the Midgard Serpent, it could be a really fun comic for a collection. I wouldn't really call it rare, since the 1970s and 1980s comics were produced in really large numbers, but having it in really good condition (VF/NM or better) might make it more valuable to a Thor fan. Which issue do you have?

Huge fan of Thor, either in Marvel or traditional Mythology. With that said reading the origin of Beta Ray Bill how can you argue that their equal strength. To start Beta Ray Bill palms Thors head and proceeds to toss him around and that’s without the power of Thor added to him. Now you augment that with the power of Thor and a new hammer that he knows how to use and I say he is way stronger than Thor!!!
