Reminds me of the Railrunner they have back in New Mexico. Imagine if you could go from Tucson to Flagstaff. I would ride that.

Yes, I would be ideal to go from Tucson through Phoenix into Flagstaff on a train because it will save a lot of time and driving. The new train I will name it will be Arizona SunRunner Express rail system in the State of Arizona.
@celestialbeing52912 жыл бұрын
I know the RailRunner. It goes all the way to Santa Fe from Albuquerque. It's more comparable to San Bernardino's Metrolink than our lightrail though. Both Metrolink and Railrunner go from county to county.

I support Amtrak’s new route in the State of Arizona between Tucson through Phoenix to the West Valley suburb of Buckeye. I vote yes.

I've been hearing about this for 20 years. If (whenever that is) it does happen (if at all). They should have cars to load up your bicycle or motorcycle so you can more easily travel to your destination.

I'm guessing you can bring your bicycle and rack it within the train.

I'm for passenger rail expansion, but you're not going to get those Acela type trains you pictured. You'll be lucky to get trains that are on the California Surfliner. This is Amtrak. :(

2024: a bill in the Arizona legislature would outlaw and criminalize even asking for federal funds for rail. Penalty would be to shut down and abolish the Arizona DOT.

This is utter ridiculousness, for starters, this isn’t going to be done with the Avelia Liberty, nor Acela, this will be done with plain Amtrak Superliners, the ones that under constant maintenance and really showing they’re age. Secondly, even if there were trains between Phoenix and Tucson, it’s so isolated from the rest of the Amtrak network, only the most dedicated are going to take the tri-weekly Sunset Limited to Tucson, and continue onto Phoenix, unless this has a frequent connection with LA, this is an isolated route. Lastly, the route map is frankly ridiculous, all the Phoenix suburbs that this train says will stop at, will just spread out and delay the train further, for example there are 6 stops in the Phoenix area, with some lesser populated cities like Buckeye, wouldn’t it make most sense to have maybe the main Phoenix stop, and maybe Tempe as the only stops in the Phoenix area? All these stops are honestly going to make the train ride longer, and honestly, if this ever happens, I doubt that nobody will ever get off at half of these stops. This is a good idea, but must be done effectively, Arizona has long lacked Amtrak service, and it just seems like Amtrak’s noticed, and is overcompensating.
@Adumzzinthehouse2 жыл бұрын
Yes if you're going to try to get us out of cars, the passenger rail better be good. I'm hoping we'll get some high speed rail with 2-3 stops in the valley and reaches Tuscon in 1H30M max.
@petethetraveler Жыл бұрын
@@Adumzzinthehouse yeah that will never happen. My guess would be 2h 30m from Phoenix to Tucson, if they aren’t delayed. Not to mention UP(Union Pacific) is going to lose their minds if Amtrak proposes this, and will not be supportive of keeping them on time. I’d expect this route to be one of those routes that’s always delayed, that only the loyal ride.

Half of the Phoenix suburbs think and say the same thing about Tucson. There should have been trains between Tucson, Phoenix and Flagstaff 25 years ago. And the STATE should pay some of the cost.
