This is the best guide on LD2010. I watched a bunch and none of them were as detailed as yours. Thanks so much.

I really appreciate the high level of details and insight without excessive fluff, keep up the great work!

Most excellent. I repeat what everyone else has said and add that this is the best, by far, explanation of the LD2410 setup I have found. Keep up the work and I will most definitely subscribe and support your channel. Again, most excellent job!

Thank you so much for this. I am just now getting started trying to make my own sensors using ESPHome, more videos like this with a variety of sensors would be amazing. Awesome tutorial.

This is awesome. I have a couple of these sensors shipped and this tutorial is great!

Great stuff 👍 Have a look at the new version, the LD2450. Keep up the good work

LOL, I subscribed to this channel 2 days ago, and earlier this week I installed 3 of those sensors in different rooms, my nephews just won't turn the light off when they leave the room, and this was the best and cheapest solution. I guess this was the right channel to subscribe to, please make more videos like this,this one didn't help me but maybe I will get new ideas of automation from you, thanks!

Great tutorial. It's my first time coming across your channel and I loved this DIY project, and especially your presentation. I recently came across the C1001 60GHz while roaming around dfrobot and was thinking of doing something like this.

Thanks for this, it was very interesting. When you said "I've tried these two ways and they're flakey", I knew exactly what you meant, having gone thru that! The nightmare of trying to customize the YAML (which never worked)! I haven't quite finished your tutorial but hopefully it's just something with my HA setup. I got thru all the instructions, it just doesn't show-up in HA, yet? Anyway, YES, please document how you purchase items from China. I have been making small purchases from Ali-Express and Temu but would like to see how others navigate this process (at least until they close the tariff-loophole).

Thanks for the video. I'm interested in getting into esphome but haven't taken the plunge yet. Please do make a video on how you order parts from China. That's one of the things I've been trying to figure out.

I notice you don't set up the gates or sensitivity in your yaml. I am getting too many false positives so figured I would try to configure the gates, etc, but it has been a challenge to get right...

have you looked at the C1001 60GHz mmWave Indoor Fall Detection Sensor?

can this tool using without ESP series for triggering the relay for turn on off light like HC-SR501. if using ESP for turn on off 1 light is too over kill
@KimmoJaskari4 ай бұрын
Everything smart home makes really good ready-made options for this, their presence lite. Comes with a nice injection molded case. Nice to get a more ready baked solution. It also detects light which is useful in this context (ie, dark? lights on).

is it the same for the LD2420 sensor?
@RandomTorok3 ай бұрын
How does this sensor compare to the C1001 mmWave?
@joycejetson3 ай бұрын
This one is more affordable, more support for home automation for motion and presence. But C1001 has enhanced sensitivity like for fall detection and sleep monitoring.

I just ordered a Hi-Link LD2450 5V Microwave Radar Module, and after that I'm watching your video 😄 Do you think that module can be used according to your description?
@joycejetson20 күн бұрын
Looks like there are HA community integrations for that sensor as well, and examples for setting it up in ESPHome listed on the community forum

Vin is coming from USB no? So that is not 3V but 5V. The doc sheet of the sensor also says the votlage range it can run on is between 5V and 12V. This means you are sending 5V uart signals into the ESP's RX pin. I heard ESP32 does not like 5V going into it's pins. So you might want to add a voltage level shifter between your ESP32 and the sensor to make your ESP live longer.

12:13 Doesn't plugging it in beats the purpose of having a sensor. Normal motion sensors work with a coin cell all year long, you can place it anywhere in the room, (ceiling)
@joycejetson4 ай бұрын
@@jackipiegg I've been thinking about mounting one on the ceiling too, good idea.
@jackipiegg4 ай бұрын
@@joycejetson How would you go about doing that? The wires alone would be a deal breaker.
@joycejetson4 ай бұрын
@@jackipiegg this sensor requires more power, so was thinking to mount near a ceiling can light. If you wanted a coin cell, would need a lower power sensor.
@jackipiegg4 ай бұрын
@@joycejetson Wouldn't you need to turn on the light to get power? Assuming its a dumb light
@RichardNobel4 ай бұрын
@@jackipiegg Depends on the wiring. In our house there are wires going from the light switch to the ceiling light... but the same junction box _also_ contains other wires, running to wall outlets, that are continuously "live" (independent from the light switch). These "always active" wires can be branched off, e.g. to make an extra outlet. Into which a (5V) power supply could be plugged in, to power the ESP board + the sensor. 🙂 _Do be careful though; making changes to mains electricity or 'wall power'._ 🙈 *_Safety first!_*

The LD 2410C has bluetooth. Home Assistant will find it if you have Bluetooth. You can save a few bucks and skip using the ESP32. 😀
