I love watching stuff about finding history, my house started being built in 1860 and finished in 1880, we have stuff in our basement from 1880 from the original owners - 1990 from the previous owners, including some ww2 stuff (helmets, guns etc.)

Very good presentation. A few days ago I started to detect in a hard-to-reach ww2 area of 3 square kilometers. it seems that the area has remained intact for 79 years. it's impossible to do a ground balance in a clean area because you can't find a clean area. I found kilograms of ammunition of all kinds and many things that I have no idea what they are.

As an Archaeologist I watch this thinking 'wow look at all those amazing finds', but i also watch it thinking 'the items being found have been taken out of their archaeological context, their depth has not been recorded, no coordinates have been recorded and the relationship between those objects and any associated structural remains is now lost' which is quite sad. I'm not against what you are doing (unless the objects are later found on an auction site) but please try to make any necessary recordings such as Depth and GPS coordinates when you find something, I'm not sure if you have anything like this in Europe but here in the UK metal detectorists are encouraged to contact their local finds liaison officer if anything significant is found (for recording purposes), this is so the relevant data can then be entered onto a national database (In our case its the Historic Environment Record) or in the case of later excavation an Arch-GIS system (Archaeological Graphical Information System) which allows Archaeologists to make a detailed site map (Very annoying to make) which provides a bigger picture for historical documentation. Anyway, I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about history, happy digging!
