I used grease to hold in them little bearings during assembly. They are 7/32" just in case you drop one and most bicycle shops have them. Water gets into my valve where it is assembled, so I put some permatex on the mating surface. Awesome video !

How big was the big bearing? I used 10mm but I think it might be too small because the detent doesn’t hold

Frac mechanic here and I miss repairing hydraulic systems very much, loved the blender, most expensive hydraulic system in fracing, cement mixer was the next best option for fixing the problem with hydraulic system

Very helpful video. My detent was sticking and I wanted to adjust the nut but accidently 4 small bearing balls flew out of detent sleeve and when I found them I couldn't find right diagram to put all together in right order so I made a mistake by placing big ball in the shaft first then spring then detent housing . No wonder why it didn't work. Now I know what goes first.Thank you! 👍

Do you have a link for the energy detent repair/rebuild parts?

Very nice! thanks for the help...

MTD LLC, Cleveland, OH. may be the place to buy parts for these log splitters. Search for that company, those who are looking for parts. They have lists of machines and part lists.

Thanks so much for this video as I had to do this with mine, the valve was sticking and had to clean it out and I think it will be fine after I'm done.

Thanks for the great video? Where do we get the bearings?
@hlanceboyd5 жыл бұрын
I lost 1 of the 4 small bearing/balls. Where can I get these and size? are you sure this is an energy valve, and not an MTD valve? also, there is an O-ring that is held into place by the detent cover when it is screwed down. I think I have a leak coming from that O-Ring. I have a cub-cadet log splitter with a valve from MTDparts.com model 718-04706P. any help on the O-ring and ball replacement would be appreciated. MTD doesn't have a re-build kit like EnergyMfg.com does.
@hlanceboyd5 жыл бұрын
also, your comment on the "seal" (not being a great seal) is not really a seal at all. this is the flat area of the detent cover that holds an O-ring in place, which makes the seal I believe.

I know that you did this vid 8 years ago and not sure if you’re still on the air but I reinstalled my ball bearings etc but detent doesn’t quite hold (almost). Is there an adjustment available?

Hello: I need those kind of ball bearings. Let me know where I can get them. Mine on the MTD log splitter got lost only one is left. Thanks.

Is there an adjustment on the detent spring; my engine dies on detent.

It is a Yard Machines 25 ton...will not work without these bearings, Can grease be a help to hold the bearings in assembly.
@darrellwofford32972 жыл бұрын
would you know what size the large bearing is I lost mine and don't know what size it is
@thisisyourcaptainspeaking22595 жыл бұрын
Wow, those log holders (both!) sure are bent up, try not to split wood so it hangs up under them and not only will they not be bent but you won't have to wrestle the wood wedged under the holders. I recommend grease or heavy gear oil as lubricant opposed to WD-40, which will evaporate away in no time.

So, why did you not snow any Bearings when the Back Cap was removed? Is like you were starting from the middle of the Repair... Energy no longer list the Bearings, instead opting to sell an upgraded detent assembly at about $60.
@rodmaciva2 ай бұрын
Do u know if it has a gasket I can’t get mine to quit leaking
@crxess2 ай бұрын
@@rodmaciva There are no Gaskets. If New O-rings will not stop the leak the internal Bore is likely worn out and cannot be repaired. The Rear section(ball-bearings) are no longer serviceable parts. There are reasonable priced replacements available, but use caution in Matching and installation.
