In a first-ever test, the US Army tested its next-gen long range missile (PrSM, Precision Strike Missile) in the Pacific Ocean and successfully hit a moving target at sea, the decommissioned USS Cleveland.
The PrSM missiles were launched from the Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher (AML) off the coast of Palau, as part of the US military's Valiant Shield 24/SINKEX 24 training exercises in the Indo-Pacific.
“Everything went fantastic” We “couldn’t have asked for better results.”
That’s how the Brigadier General Jeffrey VanAntwerp, described the landmark test of the Army's two new capabilities, which were designed to deter China from invading Taiwan (or any other military action in the Pacific) since the AML-launched PrSM missiles can be easily transported on a C-130 and hidden in one of the many small Japanese and Philippine islands close to Taiwan.
