I'm considering this but the models that are on sales right now have latest firmware which changed the sound from last year units, how do you compare the sound between old and new, I've heard the updated firmware has less bass and is more neutral, would you say this is still the best Bluetooth dac/amp under $500? If it isn't please tell me. Thank you!

Hello, as far as we know, the latest firmware version of the SG1 has further enhanced the drive capability of the balanced port. For your question, it depends on what you will be using the SG1 with, if it is with an IEM, the SG1 is still by far the most appreciated Bluetooth player device. However, if you need to pair it with a headset that requires more power, we'd recommend checking out the SG1-SE, a special edition model designed for the big headphones, which we'll be releasing a review of next couple of weeks. Si ya tienes el H1, te recomendaría que echaras un vistazo a la versión dorada del SG1, que también tiene una resolución excepcional y mucha más potencia que el H1, y tiene la maravillosa musicalidad de la herencia de la marca Dethonray, que no tengo ningún problema en emparejar con los auriculares difíciles de manejar como el HD650. Hey, if I pair this amp with hifiman r9 which are very bassy and warm headphones will it get too much and get distorted and bloated?

Hi, the SG1 has an overall very contemporary sound, and some of the musical sounding IEM's we have sound great with it, without being overly intense in any way, you should try it out if you get the chance. Cheers

@@MirinReviews hey, I just checked the gold version and it's $130 more it's out of my budget and doesn't ship to my country as well. So could you please tell me how hifiman R9 sounds on standard SG-1 since it is my only option?

​@@beyondtheuniverse999 We don't have the R9 to provide you a detailed description of what it sounds like with the SG1, but we can say for sure that the sound of the SG1 series is never muddy, it is more powerful, vibrant and has a proper vocal thickness, the sound of the Dethonray DTR1 series is more on the thicker/ musical side, the SG1 series has a more modern sound. The gold version of SG1 is more suitable for high impedance headphones that require power, but if you have headphones and earbuds that are not particularly demanding, the normal version of the SG1 also sounds good enough.
