I felt spoken to at the 9:40 section haha! I gotta agree, I'm sure there are more strategic ways of building a defense around hush spectrum working (better/most of the time), but it does rely on that for Robin. Although, I kicked Igreene out of my team because the number of people using Gotoh and Lumera is way too high. If it weren't for them + BL4, even rearmed Sonya kills Ike. A unit I didn't see there and can kill Ike in certain scenarios (I haven't seen much) is Fallen Veyle. Believe it or not there is also a somewhat old GREEN unit who can kill Ike regardless of pre-combat damage/BL4, which is A!Eir. Though I guess it depends on investment + support. Ike is the best tank atm? Yes, but I do feel like Altina can perform better in some cases.

I saw Goldmary and thought about how she could have BoL4 on a unit behind her and not have to worry about units going around her to get it. IDK enough about the power level of top meta units but for casual players with unmerged units sounds fun to have her be a wall protecting a ball of supporting units behind her.

I guess Goldmary is decently strong as a support? Average visible attack is pushing 70 these days so shes gonna be inflicting -10atk/spd and dull atk/spd plus whatever additional support you add in her C (probably BoL). She really shouldve introduced SpdDef Finish tho. I think Byleth is the best unit here but banner overall is a skip.

Alear has an interesting potential with that dr pierce if you have several units with the same attack or use Citrine. Still, kinda underwhelming banner, the highlight is Petras art wich is God tier. And Im kinda thankful for that since its been such an intense powercreep rollercoaster lately...

NGL, when I first saw the thumbnail I thought this was the clickbaitiest thumbnail ever, but you open up with an excellent point. Honestly, I don't think people realize how much of a life extension for Ike was BoL4, just as they don't realize how good Lumera is, though I am beginning to see her more. I'm not really keeping count, but I'm pretty sure I haven't used a single ladder since the Fallen banner gave us blessable Lumera + Veyle, though I haven't fought a 4+ Celica line yet. I can't believe that degenerate shit actually works.

Citrine is like chrom and nergal she will age like the finest of wines. So imagine them taking the bonded skill as well as what they already do. Overall summer female alear and summer goldmary/Bernie are my priorities here. Let’s hope oblivion has better luck on this banner than he did with emblem Ike.

Its sad to see that bernie is so.....mid in comparisons to other units of her roles but im still likely pulling for her just cause she does still provide utility and i like the unit besides if we start getting like save 4 skills then this unit value will go through the roof....or atleast be improved by a good bit and by benny will rise to be the ultimate save tank

I love summer banners bcs they are always skip for me, a lot of emphasis on nuking potential. Love Atk and Res Wave, excited to build it in some HoF unit. And Laguz Friend in a non-Emblem is great. Great to know we won't need to kill one emblem copy to get the skill.

Now I love L Shez but how did she go from low tier to tier 1? Because mine can’t even kill unmerged Ike’s at all and mine is +5. Pretty meh banner for me Alear looks gorgeous but is colourless hell so is clanne but he has good fodder at least Petra is there I guess and I don’t like care for goldmary as a character even if Bernie is with her.

The units are kinda weird this banner, Petra has high similarities to WTClaude, and Goldmary is very similar to Timerra except more tooled towards Laguz Friend which actually takes away from her flexibility since Timerra has the ability to Nuke with her explosive specials. Honestly just really weird seeing a Harmonic being along the power levels of a unit thats half a year old

It really bums me out to see Goldmary so underwhelming, Bernie is like a top 5 FE character for me and the dynamic the two have seems hilarious. Part of me wants to go back to your Sharena omnitank vid and see if I can brute force viability on her with proper support, but I have played super sporadically the past year and don't have access to recent support. Do you have any idea what she needs or who is worth pulling for to compliment her?

Ike tier is way too high for Alear imo. She’s literally just L;FAlear except she traded 40% aoe/first hit DR, for -15 dmg taken. And got offensive tempo, and dragon blast became slightly more functional. She’s barely a statistical upgrade, and L;F;Alear isn’t even that good.

Theres many reasons she's much better now though. -Colorless is the best color for tanking, -just trading her dr for flat dr is a massive upgrade -offensive tempo is a bigger buff then you would think it means you can consistently use Bond Blast twice in one combat, -She isn't locked to LF4 since she already has it in her kit letting her run skills like HDW, Counter Roar or Bulwark -she is blessable and those extra stats really help. Comparing her to Ike she has neat advantages in being a speedy tank, dragon skills, and a brave unit.

But she’s a unit that needs to patch a lot of her kit’s missing qualities. -dmg taken is only broken because it applies after DR%, and Alear’s special DR% isn’t insane by any means. It’s the typical beacon DR%, which is only good for one attack. -dmg taken is basically just def/res without DR%. But she doesn’t have DC, she doesn’t have NCD, she doesn’t even have NFU, And she’d love to run LF4 because having more -dmg taken is incredible and LF4 would be better than any other option if she could actually run it. She wants res anyway. And truthfully speed doesn’t do a lot for her because she’s a dragon. She’s better than Alear, she’s way worse than Ike.

@@samkeiser9776 pierceable dr is not very worthwhile anymore E!Ike is good because he doesn't need it and neither does Alear need it too, either way you're forgetting that her B-skill is gonna have some anyways and any kind of dodge support can give her some too. Not having DC is more than reasonable when DC Bonus Doubler exists, and everything you mentioned she doesn't have is easily outsourced, her pierceable DR being one hit is fine when she isn't going to be doubled in the first place so spd is absolutely not useless to her and while LF4 is good you underestimate options like HDW and Bulwark which aren't commonly built around. The only thing i agree with is not having NCD which is pretty much the only thing that makes E!Ike better.

@@migu6528 needing a specific DC A slot or even the S slot, is worse than not needing a DC slot, and units with kit DC have more A slot options and are more future-proof. Bonus doubler 4 is just better than D bonus doubler stat wise. Not having kit NFU is worse than having kit NFU because kit NFU isn’t a speed check or a removable status and doesn’t require there to be an ally that can apply it. Alear can only get NCD from the B slot unless she wants to ditch bond blast, which she doesn’t want to do because she’d lose her DR% piercing if she switched to dragon roar. She could ditch it to use LF4, but her special options for LF4 are limited and for the most part don’t offer DR% It’s not that she doesn’t need speed, but Speed is probably the worst stat at the moment. Speed’s effect is messed with by follow up manipulation, so if a unit wants to use speed without being messed with they *need* NFU. And even if they do get speed, doubling isn’t as important as it used to be, a lot of the best tanks function by killing on retaliation, and emblem Ike could get hit 4 times and only feel the first hit. And ultimately Alear isn’t even that fast, she gets a 15 speed difference from her weapon, and that’s it, both petra and goldmary are effectively faster. And not by an insignificant margin, Goldmary has nearly 14 speed from her weapon and a 15% foe attack, atk/spd debuff, which can easily mean a 8-10 atk/spd penalty. So Alear isn’t very speed competitive. And she can get her doubling screwed with anyway by Hrid. She needs tons of setup to do stuff that Ike can just do.
