building a guitar out of bed slats - DIY recycling idea became a real nice custom instrument

In this DIY project I built a fully playable electric guitar out of used bed slats. The whole instrument is made by hand. Only some simple power tools were used for this luthier job.
My aim was, to use recycling material where possible. So, I used an old CD and some plastic waste for the fret markers and cork from wine bottles for the knobs.
The wood for the main parts is tropical but recycled and the fretboard is European plum wood.

In diesem Do-It-Yourself-Projekt habe ich eine gut spielbare E-Gitarre aus gebrauchten Bettlatten gebaut. Das gesamte Instrument wurde in Handarbeit gefertigt. Nur ein paar einfache Elektrowerkzeuge dienten zur Unterstützung bei diesem Gitarrenbau.
Mein Ziel war, so viel Recyclingmaterial wie möglich zu verwenden. Also benutzte ich eine alte CD und etwas Plastikabfall für die Bundmarkierungen und Weinkorken für die Knöpfe.
Das Holz für die Hauptbestandteile ist zwar tropischen Ursprungs aber recycelt und das Griffbrett ist aus europäischer Pflaume.

Some tropical hardwoods are VERY hard. You could probably have used the bed rails for the fretboard.
