So that’s how the horizontal jump works. I never found the time to see what it is. For those that want to practice Detonator explosions on erratically moving players, the map tr_aim (made by the sane guy who did tr_walkway) will give you bots with random movement for you to practice at your leisure.

Practising on custom maps is something that seemed good, but never really something that I felt comfortable actually figuring out how to do myself. This video (and the provided link) got me started on that, both on the fantastic det training course but also just on general surf maps. Surf has always been something I've thought was fantastic, to the point where I'd watch complications to relax when I'm busy but I never thought I could really do it. But today I downloaded my first surf map and with the help of some youtube tutorials, actually did it! So thank you, Pirateer, for the Pyro mobility and the open door into the world of custom maps. In terms of practical feedback, maybe a Pyro weapon tier list could be good? Many weapons are mentioned off-handly in your videos when they're not the main focus of things, and having a definitive idea of what you think of each weapon and a brief accounting of their pros/cons could add a lot of context to the more specific details that show up in other videos. Plus, I think tier lists - while admittedly sorta trite - tend to go over well. Something about the mindset of a high-skill pyro could be good too; there are a lot of resources about *how* to do things, but less about *why*; what do you value doing, what are your concerns and points of interest over the course of a match. Thanks for the top-tier content, and congratulations on your recent success. You deserve it!

Very nice video man! I can tell that quite a lot of effort went into it, and it wasn’t just a voice over. I like how you made sure to get plenty of clips to highlight your talking points instead of sitting in tr_walkway for 15 minutes. Your transitions are also super clean, and the audio balance/time between different segments was very well put together. I noticed you talk about wanting feedback at the end, and this is just a minor thing. You have lots of great information in the description such as links to socials, time stamps, and resources. I’d try to clean it up a little bit and break it up into different sections containing each part of information. It’s great that you’re going the extra mile to provide on the KZbin front, and not just the video itself, but it comes across as a bit cluttered. Best of luck on your content creation journey! This video was a super nice watch :)

I remember using almost always the detonator to do some jumping and flank as pyro, but then i startes using the panic attack more and found it boring to just jump arround and wm1 some poor medic So to not do that, maybe a good idea is playing with detonator and dragons fury Also i tried doing some combos with the axe but tf2 meele is such a pain that sometimes i hesr the sound *twice* but i still don't seem to hit, so i just use the powerjack for mobility Other than that great video, great editing, can't wat for the next one mate!

i love using the back scratcher with the detonator for the roaming playstyle, yeah prob not a good idea if you have a medic on your team (although crossbow shots are not affected by the healing penalty of the back scratcher) but it makes health kits so good (medium health kit almost fully heals you) and it helps that it does really good melee damage too.
@CaptmagiKono2 жыл бұрын
You're the only person I have watched that informed me that you get much more jump from simply holding the right mouse button with the detonator while jumping for (self-det jumping). You are also the only one that showed me how to properly pop people into the air with the current Jungle Inferno air-blast changes, (that being flicking your mouse downward while blasting.) So yeah, thanks for the informative details on this usually under-appreciated class. Edit: Also yes, showing your inputs on screen while doing stuff like this is very helpful, otherwise I find the rocket/air-control mechanics kind of unintuitive in the source engine, since you actually screw yourself by holding forward at all while in the air.

alright detonator trivia: 1. det jumping doesn't count for direct hit mini-crits 2. some source spaghetti happens if you are hit by the detonation of a flare you just reflected and you take a lot of damage (could even 1shot you) 3. if you are being quick-fix ubered you can't det jump (which is weird since otherwise the medic will copy your jumps as expected, it just doesn't work with the uber i guess)

Another good tip for the det and axtinguisher loadout, DO NOT AIRBLAST THE ENEMY AWAY LIKE THAT!!! Yes it may give you more room for error but it also gives the other enemies more time to kill you which makes it much riskier. So if you go in for some fancy axtinguisher kill to show off then I'd recommend to just jump into the enemy and then hit them with your melee WITHOUT airblasting them into the air beforehand, it works almost every time.

What mouse sensitivity do you play at? Would you recommend a specific sensitivity or should I stick with my slow sensitivity that I'm used to?
@Pirateer53 жыл бұрын
whoops i'm a clown and forgot people can see this unlisted video in playlists - To answer this comment + your comment which I can't fidn on my reflect vid: I use 800 dpi with 1 sensitivity in game, similar to many pro CS:GO players' sensitivity, and I can reflect jump at will as long as the rocket is placed correctly, but then again I have like 3000 hours in TF2 lmao Depending on how much higher your sensitivity is than mine, I'd put it to about 800 dpi + 2 sensitivity in game which is a decently high sensitivity but not that hard to be precise with! If your sensitivity is similar to mine, but you're having trouble aiming/moving around/reflect jumping/detonator jumping and flicking back to your target in the air, then I really recommend increasing your sensitivity slightly, possible from 800dpi/1 sensitivity to 800dpi/1.5 sensitivity. Keep in mind I've played on 800dpi and between 1-1.35 sensitivity for years and practised many many hours on very low sensitivity, even recently buying a Logitech X Superlight to make low-sensitivty aiming easier and less stressful on my wrist/arm/shoulder. If you have any pains with an especially low or high sens then just increase/decrease your sensitivity until you find a comfortable sensitivity to practice on, then STAY on that sensitivity until you develop muscle memory. You should be able to comfortably do a 180 degree turn, track an enemy as they move, and feel no pain while playing Hope this helps, cheers
