My favorite kind of video game lore is when a backstory is retroactively added to a series that already exists and they come up with crazy stuff to just fill in the gaps and try to make sense of everything. And TF2 does a pretty great job of that

The l4d2 cast are currently in the hands of CEDA, but from what happens in the l4d1 ending comic we know that's not gonna end well, so their stories still have room for more. Fun Fact: The two factions of TF2, BLU and RED actually represent more than their colours. BLU means Builders League United and RED means Reliable Excavation Demolition. One is a construction company, and the other one is a demolition company which indicates that BLU and RED are opposing factions. Also, it explains why the BLU team, the construction company, pushes the bomb cart rather than RED, the demolition company which is specialised for destruction at Payload mode. It is because BLU needs to destroy old buildings so they can build a new one, and the RED needs to protect old buildings so they can demolise it.
