This was very helpful thank you. I'm guilty of making my text small in a circular shape plus not filling the spaces in a couple of my shirts. About to practice these techniques those designs that don't quite look right. I started in December and have learnt so much in a month, improving already and very thankful for your videos. Thank you also to the person who volunteered their designs for critique. I thought the pattern looked ok as a wall print though, you see this sort of thing in the home wares shop all the time. I guess they are good for non-personal spaces where the person just needs that pop of colour.

Have you done anything with AI art? I am just wondering how to tag some of the designs I have made. I made some great designs, that I think will sell, but I have no idea how to tag them. Some of them I know will sell, but I really can't tag them just with what text/prompts that I used....because some of them do not even look like what prompts I used. Some of them came out so good and they're beautiful, and I used the Canva "text to image." I was surprised at how good it came out. Also, on Canva there is an app that I believe is called "Draw" where you can make your stickers come out better, when you use the kiss cut. Some designs are made so they come in three pieces with the kiss cut, but if you put your design in that draw app, you can draw some lines behind the design, to connect the words and the image/element you used. It works great I do it often.
@DetourShirts

I would tag them with with they look like, who it's for and what you would want someone to type in the search to find them

Hi Juna, I’m the guy who asked about Vectornator. Since I don’t have a big budget for all of the design and SEO tools out there. I was wondering which of the following services you would recommend for an Etsy business using POD (selling/ creating t-shirts) for a somewhat adept illustrator (me) familiar with using design software. Kittl, Creative fabrica (if you’ve used them) or Canva?
@DetourShirts
@DetourShirts Жыл бұрын
The closest thing to Illustrator than I use is Affinity Designer... It's a one time fee of about $50..... Kittl and Canva are apps that have graphics already built in... neither of them have pen tool.... but they are super powerful.... Creative Fabrica is just graphics.... it can be used with Affinity Designer but you will have to pay per graphics or with a subscription.

Hi Juna. I have a question regarding a design app. First, I’d like to say that your videos are so informative, and of such high quality mostly because you’re a top level designer (I can tell, from your mad skills)! Anyway, I come from a design background myself and I’ve seen you use Canva a lot in videos, and though I think it’s a cool program. They have a lot elements to work which is sweet, especially if you’re doing POD. However, since I’m still on a PC and don’t want to take too many steps performing work-arounds to perform tasks like saving PNGs, etc. i’m looking for something with vector point capability but can’t afford illustrator. I’ve seen you use Affinity Designer and it seems pretty cool but I like to convert images into vector with an auto-trace feature rather than trace them manually. ;) So I was wondering… what are your thoughts on Vectornator?
@DetourShirts
@DetourShirts Жыл бұрын
Good question... Sorry, I've never tried Vectornator... I'll have to try to it first and then let you know what I think
@brianm5798
@brianm5798 Жыл бұрын
Ok, fair enough. Well, let me ask you then, how often do you use Affinity Designer for your workflow? Do you ever export projects or elements from Canva or Kittl into Affinity Designer?

Thanks for your videos I've started print on demand a couple days ago my question is my teepulic account is banned with copyright issues but all the resources I've used is all from Canvapro. And also I've uploaded the same design to redbubble but I don't caught on any copyright. Did you face this type of issues in teepulic before?
@DetourShirts
@DetourShirts Жыл бұрын
Not that I know of..... I guess we need to be very careful how we use CanvaPro for designs.
@MissMolly3377
@MissMolly3377 Жыл бұрын
Well, that is frustrating because I have seen a video with a girl from Canva, and she said you can use them, you have to change them, but you can use them. If we're paying for Canva Pro, it says we can use them. You should try to change them as much as possible, though.
@elvis723

I think TeePublic's algorithm is messed up or something. I just joined and uploaded one design. The design I made myself, there isn't any trademark or copyright violations at all and right after I uploaded it, they banned me for the same issue as they banned you. It's funny because it's one of my best sellers on Amazon but I guess TeePublic either has a problem with their algorithm that monitors the designs or their system really isn't accepting new artists. I emailed their legal department and no answer. I doubt they'll get back to me for what I've been reading on posts by other people that are going through the same issue.

I disagree with your assessment about patterns. I've sold patterns on stickers and wall art. The wall art is used in homes and offices as decor enhancements. Accent pieces is what some would call posters and framed art with patterns. And patterns on stickers are great if they are smaller and put into sticker packs. The smaller stickers in sticker packs are used to seal envelopes. They make pretty magnets, too. So, while I understand your objections, I hesitate to tell people to not use patterns in stickers and wall art. Does that make sense?
@DetourShirts
@DetourShirts Жыл бұрын
Totally makes sense..... Hey, I could be wrong about stickers and wall art....I personally wouldn't buy them but if you have made sales with them then that more than proof it works.... thanks for the comment.
