It's hard to believe that this large house was once someone's home. And that there are literally thousands more abandoned houses like this in Detroit.

My first thought was, wow, this must have been a beautiful house when it was lived in. So many interesting angles in the roof, a front porch, bay windows, partially brick, partially wood sided, and quite a large house! My second thought was, why take out part of the first floor first, and have the second and third floors hanging in mid-air?!

It's amazing, someone was living in this house in 2009. The house and the property was still OK. By 2011, no one was living there, and every window in the house was broken. This place must have been vandalized pretty badly.
@Detroitvideodaily

Yeah, it was vandalized, but I had seen houses in worse shape not get demolished. An unfortunate end, and nothing but an empty lot at this point. - Thanks for watching!

It's funny how you can tear down a house without ensuring safety of the road users and local residents. The site is not boarded up to prevent debris and dust going onto main road. Even the road is not closed for the duration of works! How could this happen in a country where people like to sue? As for Detroit, it's a real shame. Once upon a time it was one of the greatest cities in the world.
@Detroitvideodaily
@Detroitvideodaily 9 жыл бұрын
mikemihh I thought is was odd also. They could have easily blocked one lane, but that would've meant having another worker present to direct traffic. My guess is the city wants to do these tear downs as cheap as possible. Thanks for watching the video!

A lot of people in the comments are blaming either the government or large businesses, in reality many of these houses have fallen into disrepair and would probably collapse on their own it's safer and cheaper to demolish the property than renovate it

Such a lovely old home. I understand why this is happening and I don't oppose it. However it breaks my heart to see these beautiful old homes wasted like this. Detroit is a good example of the destruction the Democratic Party has wrought against the people of this country. I wonder how many of these old beauties are going to suffer their last indignity this year. Their slow decline was bad enough.

Thanks for watching! But I don’t believe it’s true that the Democratic Party brought this on. It was a beautiful home. And at one time for the first owner was excited and happy to be there. A sad end for this one and many others.

Location,Location,Location The first 3 rules of real estate. Buildings are neglected when the neighborhood goes to shit. In Detroit that building is worthless, In the Shadyside or Squirrel Hill sections of Pittsburgh, It would never been allowed to get as run down. In those sections MOST of the houses are the same age as this and they go for a half million dollars or more.

...very nice demo, although I have to wonder why I see so many demolition contractors using excavators with thumbs on them, but the thumb itself is never used. I'm sure it will be to load the debris in the dumpster, but I'd think it'd also be used to demolish the house as well.

Blaming a city's problems on Democratic government or leadership isn't the case. There are many other factors and many more important than a "Democratic mayor" that is often used to cast blame. What about all the Republican business owners or Republican board members who sit on corporate boards? What I'm trying to point out is that you can have a Democrat mayor, but Republicans in other powerful or influential positions that affect a city.
