I like how Gavin looks noticeably healthier in the present. It might just be the lighting, but his hair looks neater, his face is less “haunted”, and he looks happier and well-rested. Again, it might be my imagination, but if this was purposeful, it was an amazing little detail to add, to convey how happy he is with Nines.

throughout the flashbacks, nines’ LED is never blue. it’s constantly red or yellow, never changing. and then during the scene with he and gavin in gavin’s apartment when they watch a movie, eat and he calls him nines for the first time, it changes. the first time nines ever felt seen, heard, valued and content with where he is in his life.

It was almost a shock to me when I realized that this film, as well as Det. Evolution, is the only positive gay representation that i’ve seen in a film format that is the main focus in the narrative, isn’t sexualized or over-stereotyped, and doesn’t end in tragedy. The relationship is healthy and loving as well (at least in the present day of the film). I’ve only recently realized how important that representation is to me and other lgbt+ people, who are more often than not depicted as a flat stereotype or as someone to pour tragedy and angst onto, not as people who are capable of finding happiness, in a relationship and outside of it. thank you for your time and effort, octopunk.

OH MY GOD!! This was amazing!! It’s amazing to see the differences between Reawakening and Awakening. I think having it be combination sequel and prequel make it stand out. The scenes between Nines and Gavin when they’re a couple are soooo sweet and in no way take away from the emotions of the last Valentine’s Day. And seeing the intimacy between them grow and how much Gavin has softened to allow Nines to love and be kind to him is a goddamn gift. A GIFT I SAY!!

Even though I loved the first one back when I watched it, this is an improvement in so many ways. The camera work is incredible, the acting is somehow even better than before, the lighting is gorgeous, and TINA! I love that we have Tina in this one. I don't know if it's because you're getting better with every movie you're making, or because everyone involved has gotten more comfortable with the Detroit universe since you've stayed in it for a while, but this is seriously such a solid movie, and the perfect conclusion to the story. Thank you for remaking it, thank you to everyone who worked to make this happen

I watched the first one the month it came out and just got to watching this one. It still holds up as one of the best fan made works, it warms my heart so deeply. I'm on the ace spectrum, and this actually helped me realize that. This means so much to me as something I find comfort in. It's the first piece of media I consumed that had explicit ace rep that didn't make it seem bad. This relationship is based on love, and asexuality is a component of their relationship, it's not the center piece. I adore this so so much, thank you Octopunk Media

this film was a whole load of nostalgia and new at the same time and it couldn't be more perfect. i forget so easily that this series is fan films of DBH, the octopunk versions of the characters are just how i see the characters now because they have taken on a life and uniqueness inside the octopunk universe that they would never have had without it. it was a joy to see the actors' portrayals of the characters now that they are so familiar to the roles, both in remakes of DA scenes and in the new scenes. maximilian's portrayal of nines really stood out to me, i love that nines retains his android-esque quirks and personality while at the same time having so much humanity. i found it really interesting how close gavin felt to the game version of the character in the Awakening scenes, in the original film it felt like the character was already evolving away from the game version, but in this, he could have come straight from the game. it made the evolution from DA gavin to present-day gavin all the stronger and super interesting to watch. i have to gush about the soundtrack too, it was beautiful hearing the original themes once more and if i'm correct, we got an austin bytts original credits song? it was an absolute bop too. i love the story and characters that octopunk has created, and this film was a perfect sendoff to the universe that they have made their own.

From filming to acting to sound design to special effects to sets to lighting to like all of it was absolutely brilliant. The grey shirt with the LED necklace Gavin was wearing reminds me of the LitoPerezito's REED900 comics hahah. If it was a reference to it from this studio I LOVED it. I also LOVED this movie, wished it was longer but considering all the effort, love and hours put on it I don't mind it being shorter.

Incredible as always!! Everything looks so so beautiful! The montage at the end absolutely killed me, Gavin with Nines' LED as a necklace, and the group shot and omg!! This was absolutely amazing. Damn, where to start. Gavin and Nines are so fucking adorable together. The characters are simple yet endearing. Actors did a great job, especially the actor playing Nines (is that a referece to Nier). He nailed the whole android thing. The setting and atmosphere makes this movie seem official (in my mind it's now canon to the game lol). But my favorite part is that I love it was a more personal story. I hated when Detroit went the generic android rebellion route. Not that it was bad but I felt it was done to death so I wasn't so much into it. This is what I wanted to see, an android discovering life by just living. Amazing job, everyone involved in this project deserves an applause.

Воспоминания Гэвина и Найнса рассказывают нам о том, как главным героям нелегко было наладить общение с самого начала. Так интересно было смотреть, наблюдать, переживать. Очень помогали переходы с прошлого на настоящее время, где у Гэвина и Найнса всё хорошо, где они любят друг друга (как будто глоток воздуха в кульминационные моменты). Это прекрасный фильм, прекрасное продолжение первой части. Я рада, что посмотрела его. У меня прям какое-то счастье на душе. Хочу ещё раз сказать вам большое спасибо за вашу проделанную работу. I am delighted with this movie. I had my head turned by the lighting on Detroit Evolution, and then the love story, and this more of the things I liked best. The journey the lighting of the flashbacks tells, from stark whites and muted greys - with Gavin as the splash of colour even then - going through blue and orange, to soft pink and soft romantic haze in the present scenes, I love it.
