I would say the Modor DR-2 is the only other drum machine in this class & is the only direct competitor to the Perkons in terms of playability, synthesis capability & price point. They are both really great machines but I lean towards the Perkons because it just suits my taste more.

Having all sequencers available at once and all parameters is for me the biggest advantage of the Perkons over any other drum machine 🙂

I’m intrigued by the Modor but the Perkons speaks to me more as well I’d also include the analog rytm ii in that category

Perkons is the new gold standard. The only 'bad part' of it is the price. It has good build quality and huge skill gap so even at that price tag it could be worth it if youre dedicated. The user interface is what EVERY gear designer should try to emulate.

the user interface is top notch indeed 🙂

I prefer the Erica Synths Techno System, but I also love the Perkons! I love the hands-on approach of these devices, I don't like computer DAWs (like Ableton) where you use your mouse to change parameters. That sucks, these great devices rule! I'm trying to get rid of all my computer software when making music. I don't want to make music with mouse! I want to use devices like Perkons where you have hands-on experience!

I have half of the techno system, plus some other drum modules. It’s really nice to live perform with 🙂

I luckily own one and it‘s fun, immediate and creative… and it sounds good… not the most versatile when it‘s about sound. But the most fun of all Drummachines i had/have…
@Detroit-Berlin Жыл бұрын
amen to that 👍 The sounds might not be versatile compared to samplers like Digitakt etc. but for a four voice drum machine I think they can go really wide (still with their distinct tonality).

The question is..... if you could only buy one drum machine synth for just under 2k, what drum machine would you buy? That's where I'm at right now

Analog Rytm mk2 if it’s your only one or Digitakt + Perkons if you’re into live performance and your budget is slightly bigger

I would like to see a comparison with the pulsar 23
@Detroit-Berlin11 ай бұрын
I’d be happy to do a comparison if I had one 😅 for me the strength of the Perkons lies in the parameter locking, sound engine and ability to save kits and patterns (independently). I think they serve different purposes for different people.
@Petros_Michalakopoulos11 ай бұрын
@@Detroit-Berlin I have to say the perkons looks also sexy I have to check more videos and listen to them in the studio so I can judge the sound and if it is comparable to the pulsar because from what I have heard and for my taste the pulsar is the best sounding drum machine
@Detroit-Berlin11 ай бұрын
@@Petros_Michalakopoulos I think the Perkons fits really nicely in a mix and even nicer live on a pa, some of the videos I saw don’t do it justice.

I have owned both -- the Perkons is a keeper! I didn't gel with Pulsar 23, even though I was so excited about it
@Detroit-Berlin10 ай бұрын
@@chadthecurator1974 owning lots of modular gear I think you can more easily patch sounds reminiscent of the Pulsar on a modular. The Perkons has a bit of a Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas vibe I truly like.

The only thing ultimate about it is the never ending bugs and crashes and no help from Erica synths

no quantised pitches though...too bad
@Detroit-Berlin Жыл бұрын
why? it’s a drum machine and I never had problems tuning my oscillators by ear even in live situations. Would be a bigger drawback if modulations would be in steps.
