Nikon D5000 Demo & Review

Thank you for this tutorial, my father bought this camera and used it multiple times back in 2010 but then it was dropped by 2011, now 5 years later I found it and without a manual I could understand how it worked thanks to this video.

I bought one of these at Goodwill yesterday for $6.50! It works and came with a good battery and charger. 11 years old now, but for $6.50 it seemed like a good deal to me.

@Miriamgf12 The d3100 has some improvements over the d5000. For example d3100 now offers full HD video recording. Also, I believe the noise control is improved in d3100 as well and uses a new image processor

So I'm trying to record a video with my D5000, but in the live mode it always shows a crossed out REC symbol. The Nikon manual doesnt give any solution to this except tellung me that the symbol means I can't record. Do you know what might be causing this?

ISO= International Organization for Standardization What ISO denotes is how sensitive the image sensor is to the amount of light present. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the image sensor and therefore the possibility to take pictures in low-light situations. For best result: Try to play your camera ISO setting and you can discover the function and understand its specific purpose.

i wondered why they built the screen that way, since the tripod would block the screen if the person has the screen turned away from them or sits in front of the lens.

I tried to take a photo while recording video. It takes the photo, however, the video instantly stops. I don't know if there is a setting that you can use to compensate for this. I know it has been a few months, but just thought I would try to post something to help.
