@iZsn4Ti yeah which is stupid af, let athletes talk their talk. I’m 18 (just graduated) and I remember telling kids on the basketball team. “If your doing this for fun and if your only gonna do ur team practice get the fuck off my team”. I was looked at as taking the game too serious, by parents and my teammates. Cause I would talk my shit, and I would never joke around. I got into fights with teammates because I would chew them out because they wouldn’t wake up before school to go to the weight room. Also for not wanting to shoot after practice. I remember yelling at them one practice “y’all ain’t got no soul! How we supposed to win when y’all are doing the bare minimum! You know what the other teams trying to win state are doing? They grinding! Getting up before school to practice!” It seemed often that I was the only player going the extra mile, literally and metaphorically. Then as I get expected politics played into the team with kids parents that donated money threatening to pull their donations if their kids didn’t play. So I was jeopardy however there was a scrimmage where the parents were in the stands. And I went on a rampage scoring talking shit to the parents and the other kids. Cause I hate sucker shit like that, too many kids this age treat sports like a fucking chore. But it’s not a chore, it’s a place where niggaz like me can forget about everything. It’s an escape from reality, where all your problems are gone. The moment you start treating a sport as a chore you already lost the war, cause there’s gonna be kid that treats it as a war zone that’s gonna bust your ass

Convinced most people commenting have never played professionally, collegiate, or competitive. Watch the clip no one prevented it. Or tried to. Period. You don’t have to foul but you don’t give the man a clear path to the rim. You’re literally taught to play hard every play and no one even tried to run back let alone contest him. End of game or not if you have any pride/respect for “yourself & your squad” it’s understood you don’t let things like that fly. What’s the difference between him laying the ball up, shooting, or dunking? You still lose by six!! The difference is, out of all 3 of those choices only one requires real finesse & athleticism which most do have and it angers people especially when you kill them with it!

Bates needs to grow up. You don't slam dunk at the last second after you've sealed the game. He's a punk at this point, and that's why had a ball tossed in his face. If somebody hadn't held him back (seems to a pattern, right?) he would have started a big old useless fight.
