Goodguys Summer Of '69 Camaro Showcase - Part 1 with Mark Stielow

At Goodguys PPG Nationals this year they are celebrating 50 years of the iconic 1969 Camaro in a showcase called Summer of '69.
They've invited 140+ 1969 Camaros to this event and they are all unique in their own way.
For Part 1 we met up with long time friends and Pro-Touring icons Kyle Tucker and Mark Stielow to show you the 5 cars that he crafted and brought along.

Know Mark from Rolla. Went to an SAE Formula Race Car meeting and realized I was too busy to dedicate myself to the level he demanded. lol I recall seeing the Camaro he eventually crashed when he’d drive around campus. It was badass back in the day.

I always wanted Mr. Steilow to build me a nice 69 Camaro. LS3 with a Whipple supercharger, 4L80 trans, nice leather interior, L88 hood. Just a taste of what I have in mind! 300k probably???

The high school parking lot was filling up as it always did, everyone parking in their normal spot, talking sh!te about cars or girls, and in rolls a '70 AMX. We knew all the regular cars but this was a new one. Most of us stared intently and tried to figure out who was driving. I think Vance (who drove a '67 mustang but loved the AMX cause it was a two seater) already knew, cause he was grinning like a Cheshire cat when he told us it was Stielow. Turns out, Mark and his bestie had flown out west (CA? AZ?) bought it, and drove it back over the weekend! He was 16 or 17 at the time. . A few weeks later, on a Saturday night, he and bestie walked into In A Tub (notorious for serving up delicious, greasy, deep fried tacos) and we were all talking. It turns out they were going on a double date after eating. One of us pointed out that bestie missed a bunch of grease on the back side of one arm. In good humor, with his wonderful grin, he laughed and said, "Yeap. That's why I wore long sleeves!" His good humor and that simple phrase have stuck with me for 40 years. It's wonderful to see how far he's come AND he's even wearin' short sleeves🤣🤣🤣✌️
