I'd love to get an old M35 someday....prices have gone up a lot in the past few years though unfortunately putting them way out of my budget. Where I'm at we don't get enough snow to need a truck like that to plow with but I just want an M35 LOL. M35 with the multi-fuel engine would be great. Got to drive one a few times before they got replaced with the LMTV, and MTV...not even close in comparison to the old M35's. Did you get yours from Idaho Motor Pool in Fruitland?

Last drove one in Vietnam in 1971 - my favorite vehicle. I was curious what you were using for traction. The military tires on them weren't worth a shit. I stopped on the side of a road on that tan mud that cracks when it gets sun baked, and the deuce wouldn't move. I let the clutch out, climbed out on the running board, and watched all 10 tires slowly spinning.

I see you have a tracked snowplow like the ones we use made by Bombardier to clear sidewalks. Can't tell the make for the one you have. The city I work for had a fleet of the old style newest one was a 1982. Everyone who used them ended up in an accident including me getting 9 stitches to the forehead from hitting a guard rail tiedown point at the ground. We called them surplus German tanks from WWII.

Certainly 6x6 will have lots of traction for pushing . When I was the age of my son standing next to me I was 2nd member of a snow plow team , plowing county roads , as long as it was snowing we were rolling , one time worked 37 1/2 hrs non stop except for sandwich and coffee, usually not more than 1, 1/2 “ of snow , 14’ slusher & 11’ or was it 12’ wing , clearing about 18-20 ‘ of road , speed should be 15-25 mph to roll the snow & blow it away & 35-40 was better

Don’t have enough room around here to get her going that fast pushing snow! That would be more fun though. If you check out my KZbin channel I posted a video plowing with a Deere 544 loader the other day. That is fun to move snow with!
@robertmintz63
@robertmintz63 2 жыл бұрын
@@greylockadventures7025 , not enough room , yes I realized that , for most of your snow plowing in the vid was close quarters, but I did not think that that was all of it . It looks like your plow can turn to push left or right & I like that , so you can cause the snow to roll down the hill , no matter which side the down hill is on . Most of the vids show plows that discharge only to the right , which often results in trying to push the snow up the hill , or on the windward side , making huge snow bank on the one side & none on the other. I used to wish our slusher could have been turned to push to the left , for these very reasons . I looked at you Deere 544 , yes it looks like fun. I used to punch back turn around areas, with a Champion grader , with a bull blade on front , 4’ high & width of grader & also cut the banks down to about 16-18” with a 14’ wing , driving at 10-12 mph if possible & close to the bank & one time not thinking of where I was at , where the bank was 2-3’ past the edge of the road , the right front wheel broke through the thin ice cover & I ended up with that side in the swamp , & the grader canted over to about 35-40* , but I got a fellow with a log skidded to pull me out

That reminds me of my father. He was an operator on the snow plow at the airport. There was no team on the first years and he had to do all the work by himself. Push the snow, remove it around the lights with a shovel, and finally blow it away. He had to blow the snow with the blower and widen the landing strip

Plowed for 30 years municipal work. Nothing like hitting the manhole at 30 miles an hour. But you're right momentum is your friend. Got to take a little bit smaller bite and roll it off that plow. Back in the seventies early 80s we used to pull 40-hour shifts. You could never get away with that nowadays. Since I retired I plowed for another 20 years residential. Now it starts to snow and the wife says I have PTSD. Post-traumatic snow disorder. Can't wait till the day and all I have to worry about is myself.

@@charlesfredrick4789 yes I can imagine hitting a man hole cover at 30 mph wow thank goodness we did not have any of those ! Rural County roads only . Sometimes when it snows I get that , but , Most of my ptsd is , I want to hit the woods with my Savage 99 ,308 with tip-off scope 1.5-4.5 , so I can use scope or open sight & bring home the venison, but anymore I would need help to do that .
