Here are 2 fun facts: This video was recommended by Warren Spector himself! I got the heads up by a subscriber whose comment is now sadly deleted (I had pinned it so I'm quite sure). twitter.com/Warren_Spector/status/1148942998820085763 facebook.com/warren.spector/posts/pfbid034wBXgRxeM1MLZHWTf7zrESfxyrPHeG8t235nq3bMvb8chTywCmtoFcVagyMfwiJ1l The mixing was done in real time using my virtual console and not through video editing. Super nerdy comment here, but I like the slightly sinister "chanting" bit at the start of the UNATCO track. It reminds me of Gregorian monks; not only does it sound authoritative, it's like a subtle hint embedded in the song itself that UNATCO has ties to an ancient conspiracy. Given they explicitly say that Manderley was involved in wiping out the Knights Templar, I wonder if this is actually a deliberate nod from the devs. (Shame the modern games are nowhere near as smart...)
@KooYu6 жыл бұрын
I never thought of it this way. Though there is reason in your thinking, I personally thought of it not as a hint that points to some ties to a cospiracy, but giving a feel that there is more to the tune (and the location) that cannot be interpreted the first time you hear it, but gets quite obvious later in the game. Which now that I'm reading it, it's more or less the same thing you said :P This feeling gets more intensified (imo) in the GOTY soundtrack, which is more "punchy" and has more authority. I like the original better, however.

I couldn't appreciate the game at that time and English being my second language(which i had about 5years experience of learning at that time) it was hard to understand all the words in the game. Then I randomly decided to try the game again for nostalgia sake when i was in college. Man was i blown away! the story, the mechanics, the choice based gameplay, the dystopian environments and of course the music! I finished the game for the first time in 2015 and could not believe how great it is for a game that came out in 2000. I played it several times later on and still found new stuff that I had missed the previous time. This game is one of my all time favorite and I wish I could play it for the first time again. P.S: Remember the sick guy at Battery park who asks you to kill him? - I look forward to taking him out every single playthrough. Its one of my fond memories of this game lol.
