The Deutsch House is a small and modest design by John Lautner, It's a far cry from the spectaculair and futuristic designs that he would made later in his career. Nonetheless the house has many interesting design features and great details. To preserve the legacy of John Lautner and to enjoy the beauty of his work.

A fine example of a very modest, yet still innovative floor plan for the time and I do agree with you the replacement railing with it's miserable balusters completely ruins the intended low profile view. Thank you for including this one.

I really like the smaller Lautner projects, because they are affordable for people with an average income. Also they are overlooked and underrated most of the time. Therefore I make videos of them.

Okay you should research the students by F.L Wright, some of them made great designs, but Lautner is far out the best of them. In the near future I will be uploading more videos by Wright as well.

A beautiful house. I love the built in cabinets and closets. They are efficient and contribute to the comfort of the house. I would like living there.

The cabinets were made by Johnny de la Vaux, a ship builder who made many cabinets for boats. Explaining the somewhat nautical look of the interior. Ity's indeed a nice, small and comfortable house. A far cry from the later very large and spectaculair Lautner designs.

I would not even think about those railings if you did not shown the original. And you are so right, the original was so much better.

Yes, the devil is in the details. Someone should put back the original railings.

@@SuperJobbel But you must remember this is in California and I have heard that they had strict building codes. Maybe the the rails would not meet the code. It is a shame either way.

I really like this one, because of how compact it is. It would be perfect for a young couple. It is embarrassing that the house is in such a bad shape today.

Yes, its a humble peacefull house for people with an average income. Somebody should restore this house in its full glory

I think the cheaper finishes don't age as well nor are as durable. Plus I'm sure it costs a bloody fortune just to buy in in modern LA, much less maintain or improve.

Average is the right way to describe this house, still an average Lautner is more interesting than most houses by other architects.

Yes this house is not my favorite by John Lautner neither. But whit this youtube channel I want to make a complete overview of John Lautner's houses, also the lesser designs. On the positive side: it's a simple design that is easy and cheap to build, so it's great for people with a lower income. This makes the house worth to take a closer look. :)
