@elesjuan Жыл бұрын
You know, it's funny you'd mention that. Way back in 2002, a local dude I went to high school with, his family owned one of those ridiculous wheel and tire stores. You know, where you'd get the wires or big gaudy 20s (those were once really big, crazy..) so dude basically got whatever he wanted. Anyway, he wanted to build a replica of the supra from the movie. Bought a mkiv, all the parts, then found a local dude who allegedly knew about 2js and supras. While installing an amp in the rear of the car, managed to drill a hole in the gas tank and caught the car on fire. Very small fire, almost zero damage. Fast forward a couple years, a friend of mine bought the car and wanted to finish it. Somehow, that car stereo fire dude, owned a performance shop now. Only took like 3 years, but friend finally took delivery of a mostly finished car. Thing was an absolute beast. Had a basketball size turbo, made like 25psi on "low" boost. Friend wanted to do donuts in a parking lot one night, and I stood outside filming it. Car burned to the ground. Not only did this dingus install a mechanical fuel pressure gauge INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE CAR, he also ran a -8AN stainless fuel supply line right up next to the downpipe. So close it touched, eventually got hot and chafed enough, it burst and started spraying gasoline on the downpipe and turbo / header. That was a really sad night. But also, the irony the same idiot managed to set the same car on fire, twice!

Hey @Deutscheautoparts! I need a bit of an advice with a 1.8TSI ea888 gen 3 i have in my Skoda (in europe). It's a manual and i money shifted it from 2nd to first, at 6500RPM -> 9200RPM (in 1st). Two rocker arms failed, those broke the inlet camshaft and since the labour and parts with OEM stuff was about the same price as a second hand head, I chose to change the head entirely. After this, I noticed there is a very big increase in oil consumption. I had ~1L per 10000k miles before the repair, now it's ~1L per 750 miles. I suspect a few things: 1. maybe the rings in the engine got broken when the over-revving happened? 2. maybe the valve seals on the second hand head are not good? 3. maybe the PCV system (it was changed also because my original plastic box on top of the head was somehow cracked after this incident)? what do you think? sparkplugs have been checked, they are dry and look ok after 10-15k miles after repair has been done. Engine runs very well, no issues, no smoke on startup, doesn't have obvious leaks apart from some vapors at the oil cap area and some wetness in the variable timing cover + on the pipe that goes out of the PCV system. it does have a big of juddering back and forth in 1st gear sometimes, at low RPM, especially when it's first started and preheat hasn't finished, but i understand that's normal.
