Paul, thanks for answering my question about the TTRS fuel pump.

One thing to consider on quality of intercooler is also the fitment. A company like APR will spend a lot of time in R&D to make sure their products fit your car and bolts into the standard OEM design and you'll also see they have adapters available to make it work with certain models. They don't always get it perfect but paying more for their quality also includes the peace of mind that you won't get in the middle of an install and figure out you need to cut out something or weld something to make it work like you would with less expensive, more generic intercoolers. It's not the entirety of the value but it's a big component of it. Especially when you're paying a shop to install it. Would you rather pay more for the intercooler? Or pay more for the shop to cut up your car to make the less expensive component work?

It took me over 8 hrs to do a spring install on my previous B8 A4 and I was by myself and process was all the same. He mentioned 6.5 book time but thats with an ideal environment

Great Vid! Staged 2 my 2017 gti mk7 (downpipe, Apr intake, and latest map ecu/dsg) it was a ripper however living in 85f climate avg i could feel the precipitous heat soak causing loss of power. Add the intercooler and boom :>

Wow y’all picked my question ! Sweet! Thanks for the insight definitely helps a lot! I will take a look at the suggested intercoolers on your reply cheers!

I so wished you had a shop in S.Florida......speed shops that actually know what they are doing are getting scarce....one in Boca Raton actually charged me more to install my cat-back because he said " I was waiting for it instead of dropping it off", of course I was never given a chance to even accept this higher charge because of the "waiting in our showroom" fee. Have you ever installed the IE IC on a car in the shop? Two people have mentioned the lower condenser tabs were skinnier than stock, causing trouble to let the condenser drop down properly. Wish you also had the APR IC on your site.

great video....reaffirms my choice in the intercooler i plan to get.

APR IC gives me sweet oil temps of 216f in 90f weather and prevents heat soak amazingly well cause i drove 8 hrs to TN and was doing random pulls with no power loss.
@holsetcivic6 жыл бұрын
Kyle R. Just getting a tune will drop your peak oil temp ~10F. Heatsoak with stock ic is total shit tho! I need an upgrade

Thanks for the video and all the info. Quick question, I've heard that too big of an intercooler creates lag is that true I want to upgrade for my a5 2.0t b8 also for the piping whats better silcone or aluminum?

in the video of the TTRS fuel pump installation on the GTI project build, Max uses a small section of plastic fuel line which he crimps and seals, then he inserts it into the secondary tank suction fitting coming off the pump... I'm doing the same upgrade (using a PM4), I bought the pump from your company, just need to know where did Max get the piece of line that he used???

I have a mk7.5 gti dsg with about 2500 miles on. When I change from reverse to drive (or vice versa) I get a loud creaking noise from the rear of my car. I get the same noise if I tap the break hard enough at slow speeds. Is this something to do with breaks? Maybe suspension? Is this sound normal?
@apogo256 жыл бұрын
Great answers all around! I also enjoyed the spring install as it's a much different suspension system I'm used to coming from a 15 WRX. A question I have relates to the b8/8.5 s4 platform, based of car set up and use (in my case DD/spirited driving/ "canyon runs") which heat exchangers are best in regard to quality vs cost. From Merc Racing heat exchanger to the Alfa performance supercharger cooler system?

Hi Paul, I'm thinking of swapping the IS12 turbo from my Golf 1.8T for an IS20 turbo. Which company tune should I run, and should I get a downpipe, or anything else?

Awesome video as always Paul! Can't wait to see the Ttrs pump video as I might be interested in that upgrade in the future. Quick question about turbo lag. I have the Wagner intercooler on my mk6 gti, very similar to apr or I.E. as far as design and quality and size. I've noticed that with all the upgraded piping, the throttle pipe and the turbo pipe, that the turbo lag is quite noticeable. Any ways to combat that? I'm pushing around 21psi consistently with stage 2 tune.

What about fmic vs OEM location updated ic. Not a weekend racer but do like back road drives and car shows. Would I be ok with a fmic like neuspeed with cost of the ic and the ic OEM delete kit would I be better to just get a apr or ie one.

DAP's latest project car is 3.0 Tupercharged V6 and Humble Mechanic's project car is a R32 V6. Coincidence? I'm starting to think VW/Audi 2.0T is more trouble than its worth, especially the CAEB 2.0T. Is this engine a ticking time bomb??? Even if you've replaced coils, replaced timing chain tensioner, don't have oil consumption issue (yet), etc

The MK7 had reached the end of the road as far as DIY and related videos are concerned. No other reason to get a new vehicle other than to provide more videos and content!

They picked those cars because they're relatively badass platforms. And they're a content source. Not because of mechanical issues.

Hey DAP, idk if you’ve answered this question before because im new to your channel. I was wondering if you can give me some suggestion on the supporting mods after going stage 2, using Unitronic and catted CTS DP. Thank you.
@holsetcivic6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Atuan An intake and intercooler. Wouldn’t hurt to upgrade your pads and rotors too. I’ve got a catted cts dp as well, just went apr stage 2 93oct and I feel like my stock intake and intercooler are holding the car back
@aaronatuan31316 жыл бұрын
Jordan E thank for the tips! I’ll probably do intercooler in 6 months from now. I already got the neuspeed intake. And yes definitely i didn’t even think about the pads and rotors. Thank you.

Yet to this very day, I have never heard any supplier or tuner recommend ICs that they themselves DO NOT sell. Nothing like good ole 'bias' opinions right.... Going by the rubric discussed within this video, it seems that if a manufacturing brand has R&D behind their product then it is recommended. Let's stick with that philosophy.
