The current breed of young concert pianists are simply crazy phenomenal! They possess transcendental skills and musicality. This obviously comes from an outpouring of “labor of love”. Wish I could get a few of my brain cells to “ touch and agree” on that magnitude. This scherzo is improvisational from note A to Z. Ole Frederick Francois Chopin knew “whereof he affirmed”. PWG

This is without a doubt the best performance of this piece I have ever heard in my life. There was no doubt Seong-Jin Cho was a great Chopin interpreter when he won the competition in 2015, but I am truly astounded by his almost paradoxical ease and focus. It sounds like he practiced this entire piece purely staccato, no pedal at grave speed many many times with the kind of independence, strength, and especially purpose his fingers all have.

@heran68992 жыл бұрын

Not as trolling or anything, am just purely interested from which year do you count as his ‘dark years’? This scherzo is from 1842. While there is a distinct break in his spirit after Mallorca, around 1838; I find only in his last years did his music become almost unbearably painful (from around 1846-47, the breakup with Sand).
