Just a moment ago, guests from all over Europe wanted to bash their heads in at the hotel "Zur Goldenen Lilie", but the godlike singing of the Roman poetess Corinna makes everyone pause. In Rossini's absurd coronation opera, beautiful sound and virtuosity take precedence over logical plot development, and in the improvised verses of Corinna's arias one can already hear the "Melody lunghe, lunghe, lunghe" of the young Bellini approaching.
