Ich fühle noch die Emotion diesen Momenten. Ich war 19 Jahre alt und konnte es nicht glauben.

2:50 I laughed so much when he said this. Such raw emotions. Sweppenstette is a character you don't expect to scream out loud, and it was outright humourous to have this after the title sequence. '89 was definitely the funny one out of the three seasons.

hihi it is cool to see a recreation of what happend that faithull night in november 89. just imaigne how absurd it must have been for the east german burrecreauts to see east germany crumble so suddenly.
@BarberJ953 жыл бұрын
Imagine after decades of all their oppression, endless efforts to maintain the DDR and suddenly it’s all immediately over like that along with the whole eastern bloc. Also I felt Deutschland 89 was darker than the funniest one 86.

tbh I felt he was a comedic character in '86, all the stuff with him desperately trying to get into "inner circle" was extremely funny

It's especially ironic when you know that his actor was born in east germany and fled to the west.

I don't think it was supposed to be humorous, but a genuine and expected reaction for someone who quite literally devoted his life to the construction and the status quo of the DDR. Opening the border meant mass emigration and brain drain, and the eventual collapse of the country.

Why can’t we have more shows like this? Television today is so trivial and saturated with garbage. This show is golden, and it’s frustrating it doesn’t get the attention it deserves

Preech. Season 1 was golden. You could tell season 2 had been gotten to by people. You need to write/do something :)

All I want is Deutschland 92 now.

Its highly unlikely. Germany was United by 1991 and the soviet union was entirely gone the year following. The West had spread from the older border of West Germany as far east as Romania and Bulgaria. Europe was democratic again both west and east and Russia was a shadow of its former self. Not much to show. The real tension in Europe and Russia doesn't pick up again until our timeline around late 2010s

Superb series. Great characters and actors. I’ll have to watch it all again now I’ve seen this 👍

Brilliant brilliant show. I’ve been meaning to watch for years and just kept putting it further down my list. I feel like an idiot now. On the plus side it meant I could binge all 3 series rather than having to wait. If anyone hasn’t seen the US series “The Americans” I’d thoroughly recommend that too, has a similar vibe. I don’t know what it is but I find the shot of Martin walking toward the camera in the ‘83 titles weirdly hypnotic.

I still wonder if Lenora's death was justified for what she had done to Martin's future and life.
