My goodness, my now 17yr old used to watch this on continuous repeat for the better part of 2 years! Sometimes I will blast this and he'll just smile and chuckle but act like it's something he didn't like that much lol. Now I find myself listening to this version of the Devo version I used to know. It has more spunk to it and the keyboards sound better. I also love the distortion on the guitar as well in this version. Yeah, I'm weird and have now become my son, sans the heavy rotation of the song/album hahahaha. They did a great job! The singer still does her thing nowadays.

I actually just read an article about this, with Mark and Gerry interviews. From what M&G said, my understanding was that these kids could actually play. They were probably miming for the video, but (again, this is my understanding, not fact) apparently they actually did perform.

As a school teacher, children's entertainer, parent, and DEVO NUT, I thought this project was great! My kids watched the DVD all the time, and the sound of the tunes was great ... "Peek A Boo" was just as good as the original, and "The Winner" was never actually done by the band (I'm not sure). Wish it continued - I think there were a couple of shows/appearances?

I've got mixed feelings -- a gut feeling -- about this, but if anything, it's pretty cool that the "gunshots" (0:56) are still with us in live versions of the song, as Mark aims his imaginary rifle and fires along. Maybe the hand-clap-sounding explosions from the original were a little too provocative for Disney.
