Mark Mothersbaugh fed me "monkey chow" from the edge of the stage after a show in 1978 in Arizona. We (a small group of insistent spuds) didn't want to leave after the show and wouldn't stop calling out for DEVO long after all the lights were on. He came out on stage with a bunch of food from the catering, and threw bits into our open mouths. I've never been a more satiated spud than at that moment. 😂

In 1984 as a UCLA student I interned for “The Cutting Edge,” MTV’s once-monthly alternative music show from IRS Records that featured artists like The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Chris Isaac, and DEVO. I had the pleasure of running lights and coffee the day DEVO was interviewed and filmed. Polite guys with midwestern manners.
