As a Canadian veteran -- I quit in 2022 after 15 years -- I can assure you the standards are gone. The updated dress "standards" allow for any colored or length of hair, tattoos, nail polish. Pants are okay untucked, sloppy. The aptitude test is now eliminated for 48 trades including intelligence officers, which means no more English, math, or spatial awareness standards, in order to accommodate non-citizen immigrants because old stock white male citizens are no longer interested as they're being continually vilified for there mere existence (and I'm saying this as a non-white person). The CAF turned its back on and betrayed hundreds of members over the vaccine mandates and the force has essentially collapsed since then. The only saving grace is that they've now mandated tampons in the men's washrooms.

You are not renewing permanent residency, you will always be a permanent resident unless you are given a removal order (e.g committed crimes etc.) You are only renewing a card which is conditional based on the 2 out of 5 years you live in Canada. You can still live in Canada as a permanent resident with an expired card but you won’t be able to leave the country and come back unless you renew the card. Therefore, Permanent Residency is permanent but the card needs to be renewed every 5 years.

The deplorable state of the military isn't going to be fixed anytime soon. Even when PP wins the next election its going to take years to get the Forces back to something somewhat respectable. Our procurement process for military equipment is a nightmare and even when we finally decide on new kit it takes years for it to start arriving. Heck, we won't see our first F-35 until 2026 thanks to Turdo's bungling! We should already have them but thanks to his stupidity we went from top 5 in line to last in line. We need new ships too. I was born in France and I'm a proud but frustrated Canadian citizen. According to a quick Google search the French passport is the 2nd highest rated passport in the world. Truthfully, the Canadian passport has never been respected. If you have need of consular services if you have a problem overseas you are in deep trouble. I remember 30 years ago when I was working on contracts throughout the Middle East, I was advised by my employer to travel using my British passport (I am a dual citizen) because if I would find myself in a situation where I needed help in places like Saudi, Bahrain, or UAE then having a Canadian passport would be about as valuable as toilet paper.

I think that it would be beneficial to this video if you explained what you meant by "the passport is less respected". Does it simply mean that Canadians are less respected and by extension, we are less respected when identifying with a Canadian passport?

It probably means how many countries let you in without any visa. As a traveller. When there is more distrust in Canada, more countries put some visa requirements on you.

@@jbc22112 With few exceptions the countries you need visas for give them online for a small charge. The extra places that Americans and Europeans can visit visa free are not places you really want to go to, like war-torn African countries.
