Well, I greatly admire this man. The amount of pain/hardship he endured for the sake of his country/men/family is jaw dropping. And he is passing along his hard worn knowledge and determination to help others in that situation! Way to not let shitty things keep you down. However, I am very affected by aging, I was always strong and able and now I find two steps daunting. A couple of months ago I walked up and down a small grassy hill numerous times and it was a big deal. So, I whine a little. I'm old, single and not an ex combat soldier. But just like him, I have no choice. I have to get it done and there's no one to help me.

I had the honor of meeting Travis last year. A story he didn’t say in this interview, really moved me. He said he worried what his daughter would think of him, lying in a hospital bed, all bandaged up and tubes running out of him. He described himself as being a monster in his daughter’s eyes. His wife placed his tiny baby girl on his chest and she smiled at him. He wasn’t a monster, he was dad. What a beautiful story of unconditional love.

They all go through that, even a double amputee. It's a shame that they all are not getting the mental reinforcement that it's going to take to get past disfigurement. I had to remind my buddy that he was a Racecar Driver by throwing him in the passenger side of my sleeper hot rod and gave him the ride of his life. I had a 1970 350 engine built for drag racing that was just a little out of specs and put it in my farm truck. I've done over 330 miles an hour in that pickup truck. I think I only did about 240 mph with him and within a week of getting out of the hospital I had him winning first place in Corpus Christi

This man came and spoke to my school, at the time I was in a wheelchair/using a walker after having a multiple orthopedic problems in both of my legs resulting in a few surgeries. I spent weeks in bed and months learning how to walk multiple times. By God’s grace and my personal will I was able to walk again normally…until now where I was in a car wreck which resulted in a badly shattered femur three years ago and I just now had another surgery and I’m having tons of issue and pain. But I have my leg. It’s there. And I WILL walk normally again. This guy was one of two vets and the only young guy from the afghan/Iraq war to visit my school but he had such an impact on me. I still won’t forget that strength he showed to adapt and overcome his disabilities. Thank God for this beautifully brave soul, this is what a real man looks like, he helped show me how to be strong. I’m tearing up writing this now while listening to his story again. God Bless this Man and all veterans, we’re blessed to have them still with us here stateside. I wish the very best for Travis, it’s not easy being able to be so brave and cheerful in the face of pain and the knowledge and long road is ahead where you’ll never be 100% again…..with other’s love and a shoulder to lean on when a brother needs it we shall adapt, overcome, and persevere. I can’t see it again and enough how much of an impact this man had on me, Travis definitely helped me dig deep to find the strength I needed to keep going forward in my own life. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I'm a 1993 Operation Restore Hope VET with the 511MP CO at FT Drum then onto Haiti afterwards. My time in the military (24 years) is nothing compared to this troop! 1997 I was accepted into OCS since I was a law school grad. I ended up with the JAG CORP and did enjoy it as a defense attorney until APR 2004 when I was sent to Iraq because of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal as an investigator with 3 & 4ID CID . My time in the US Army hardly compared to this guy like I said he is a true HERO in my eyes

He’s a True American Hero and Warrior. He rose above his disabilities kept on living Life. That’s really hard to do especially with his kind of Injuries. He Appreciates what he still has instead of letting the Disabilities destroy him. I’m a Veteran also and became Disabled at 47 Yrs Old long after my Military Service. My Back seems to be disintegrating more and more the older I get. I am averaging 1 or 2 Fusions every 3 Yrs. I just found out I have Syringomyelia at the T10 Level, and need at least 3 more Fusions in my lower Back. I have the Syrinx that has to be repaired first though. There is also another Tumor of unknown Origin associated with the Syrinx at the T10 Level in my Spinal Cord. Chronic Pain is very hard to Live with. I wish I could find the Drive that he has. It’s really hard to get up and keep going when just trying to walk causes Severe Pain. I’m thinking I’ll watch his Video every time I start feeling like just not moving or doing anything. He definitely Inspires People, and is a Natural Leader. Thanks for everything you do.👍👍😁❤️

Speaks volumes that the only time the emotion really rises up within him is when he talks about the greater sacrifices of some of his comrades, and what the brotherhood and his service mean to him. Not a shred of self pity. Magnificent

@@kilakr13 I wouldn't say it's BS, personally. It can help a lot of people look past their personal struggles and see what they are truly capable of. What works for one, doesn't always work for others.

I'm sorry, I know own ill get downvoted. But how is he a hero for volunteering for a war against a country thT didn't attack us? Didn't even threaten us politically, seriously, and was no where near a threat to us. They couldn't even get here if they were stupidly planning an invasion. I do respect and understand the trauma they went through. But blowing up and shooting a bunch of 14 to 30 year old boys that didn't attack us in the first place doesn't make you a hero.
@richd23322 жыл бұрын
@@joshalsea 1)” I know own Ill get downvoted “ wtf language is that 2) You volunteer to serve your country- you don’t choose what conflict/war your country will get into 3) Have you ever heard of 9/11. I think that qualified as an attack/invasion 4) Any “14-30 year old boys “ getting shot might have done something mildly inappropriate to deserve it 5) Even if you believe in what you are saying (which is hard to fathom) don’t you think a video showing probably the most positive,selfless, and amazing human beings ever might not be the best place to express it ?
@ezpz26242 жыл бұрын
@@richd2332 1) classic, you disagree with someone so you mock their grammar or whatever 2) *to serve politicians who want to get richer 3) 9/11 as an argument has proven to be absolute dogshit, yet people always mention it 4) like... defending their country? 5) it is, because as you can see these guys get praised asa heroes. they are not. he as a person can be an inspiration, but not as a soldier.
