I've been working on my draw shot for months and months, the key is having a consistent and repeatable stroke, I can draw the CB, but I have to hit it harder than I should. Thanks for your clear instruction, I will start from closer to the object ball, I had been two diamonds away drawing back 6 diamonds. I do miscue/scoop maybe 10% of shots trying to hit as low as I can looking for that sweet spot. The audio was great on this video, earlier videos it was sometimes hard to hear, thanks for you video's and expert instruction ☺

The biggest wake-up call for me regarding proper cueing speed and not powering it in is when shooting down the long rail on an angle with low outside spin. If you try to power it, you get nowhere. If you hit with a good smooth stroke with less speed, you get the perfect position.

Thanks for posting, quality is A+. Have to disagree with one point. While hitting a short shot cue angle isn't going to matter a ton, and in some cases a higher angle is required if the object ball is very close and you need a punchier stroke to avoid a double hit, for longer draw shots your cue should be more level, and preferably with a closed bridge to keep the axis point low. 2 reasons for this... 1, you get a better stroke and follow through this way (think about playing follow too, you aren't striking UP on the ball), and more importantly possibly is 2, accuracy. If you strike even slightly down on the ball, and hit anywhere off dead center you are going to end up with a masse. Might be slight, but can be enough to miss the shot. The same doesn't apply as much to a level struck ball.

100% agree with Adam. Been doing full table draws now for a while on my 9' with object 3" from far corner pocket and cue ball well behind the head string. I always keep cue as level as possible and follow through fully with tip and shaft pretty much "sledding" on the felt. Even a slight bend in the shaft because its a power draw. Not a fan of any elevation or punch stroke unless you are inches from the object and need to move the stick out of the way quickly or pinned between balls. But very important to have a smooth stroke with just the elbow rotating and upper arm not moving at all. I only move my eyes. Not one part of my body moves, especially the notorious "head lift" after CB contact. I stay down until I hear the ball drop on every shot. Note: The elbow WILL drop at follow through but it shouldn't be much. Last few tips: A closed front hand bridge and a loose back hand grip with a wrist snap at the finish works best. When stroking, I usually prime a bit then pause just ever so slightly before firing on nearly all my shots, but especially the draw. The last backstroke should be slow and then BAM. And when you do pull the trigger on the final stroke, make sure you accelerate while going THROUGH the ball, not TO the ball. This last tip has helped me the most with balls 8' apart then drawing back full table plus. Lastly, once center-low is mastered, work on draw with low-left and low-right and see the action off the rails, then take a moment and celebrate because I'm betting your CB position game has soared. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. It's part of the journey. But remember, practice doesn't make perfect, however perfect practice does make perfect. Don't shoot a shot until you can make it; shoot a shot until you just can't miss it.

The most important thing about this video is not holding the cue too tightly, if your cue lifts off your bridge after hitting any shot you are holding the cue too tightly

Big X factor is if cloth is new or old also. Old cloth requires that much more stroke/speed/power to get same effect as new cloth. I think progressive drills are great tho,. Start easy and build confidence up. Good drill video.
@AdamMarr9 ай бұрын
not just cloth, and in some cases old cloth can actually give you a little more draw than expected on close shots as it grabs harder. The balls also matter a ton. I'd say the difference between super old beat up balls vs newer high quality balls (cue ball specifically) is actually bigger than the difference between high vs low quality cloth.

Sorry for a stupid question but does good cue stick helps draw shot? Do I really need to have my own cue stick?
@SlateBilliardClub2 ай бұрын
@sneakerj9023 not stupid🤗 Yes, but also a little no😆 I can draw the cueball with a house cue, but a good tip with a proper shape and a pro taper shaft on the cue helps in drawing the ball (and everything else) with more consistency and needing less stroke force

@abelflores3752 aim on the cueball where you want to strike and then let go of that spot and thought with trust and put your focus on the object ball while smoothing through with an accelerating stroke
