In this series i take you along weekly on my road to developing a UAV drone swarm for humanitarian and comercial purposes. This week i will be going over working with defence and becoming a defence contractor. This video will be very interesting, as i will be making a deal for my first investment, along with getting help from a very experienced man who is a UAV entrepeneur himself.

Nice work! What do you think about the airspace regulations ? Is it easier to use drones in the military context than the civilian? My experience in RPAS is that the civilian market isn´t ready yet for drones. The hazards of collisions with manned aircraft is an issue. But the regulations must change because drones will play a big role in the future. Good luck and keep up the good work!

With the detachable fuselage I would worry about that as the weight of it plus it doesn't take alot of weight to ruin the aerodynamics
@NaeviusUAV

How exactly would it ruin the aerodynamics? Aslong as the CoM is aligned it should be good right

You should look into what zipline is doing regarding drone delivery that is a promising area
@NaeviusUAV

Certainly! 5kg would be twice as much as zipline can do and we wouldn’t be dependent on a catapult.

Maybe agriculture drones There is competition but not with that design The payload is more 10kg but with the capability to make a low budget swarm with greater range and flight time it could make a big difference Feeding our people is important
@NaeviusUAV
@NaeviusUAV 4 ай бұрын
Surely I’m considering that too. I guess it depends how much range you really need for 5kg

Maybe an idea to use drones for CBRN defence, to detect radiation, chemical and biological threat It is important to have a good payload and fly time Now armies use for this purpose light armoured vehicles, but the war in Ukraine shows that they are very vulnerable and easy targets, but they are expensive But this field is not very popular
@Argosh
@Argosh 4 ай бұрын
I literally tried doing what you are trying, just over a year ago. I got in contact with some Ukrainians and it basically went nowhere. Why? Well, about 3 months after I began my work the first pictures of cheap fixed wing long range drones operated by Ukraine began hitting the web. They probably started shortly after the war stabilized. War is a brutal incentive for good design and fast development. There are people with actual frontline experience working on this issue. People who started out with years of experience in model aircraft and drones. You better have a really bloody good idea before even bothering going in there. What this guy gave you is the absolute minimal basis for any company. Not one in a competitive field currently flooded with companies having good ideas, expert knowledge and also basic funding already covered. You seem to have some talent in 3D stuff, why not focus on that? Instead of building a drone, make the KSP of drones. You already have all the tech in front of you. Combine it. You need to think outside the box, because with your lack of experience this is a deadend.

Ambition
@Argosh
@Argosh 4 ай бұрын
@@NaeviusUAV then USE that ambition! By running head first into a wall like this you get nowhere and waste both time and energy. Pivot. Fail fast and hard. But you need to move on. You have nothing to gain here. Any idea that isn't pushing into this kind of oversaturated and highly technical market is better than continuing despite being told by industry experts that you have no product.

Did you even watch the video? I said I shouldn’t focus on defence, and that I want to find a market without too much competition to make our first drone setup for. We are 4 months in without experience, how do you gain experience? By doing it. Look, I am 19 aspiring to become an entrepreneur with an interest in drones and KZbin. If I would hit that wall right now I still learnt more in those 4 months time than I have ever learnt in my entire life.
@Argosh

@@NaeviusUAV you're already in the wall, you just don't know it. Listen, I've literally been where you are now. I didn't have anyone who told me to pivot. Took me 15 years to overcome the outcome and now I'm finally where I could've been then. I am deeply impressed by your attitude and willingness to learn. I'm merely telling you that people with deep and intimate knowledge of the technology you're merely exploring for the first time, people being backed with millions of dollars and well connected in the industry to boot are already way past what you are even imagining. Which is OK, you weren't at that point in your life when that ship sailed, but there's no point running off an empty pier. You're doing great, you just need to change your product. No, agriculture isn't the aim. If anything that's an even more cut-throat business than military applications. There's a reason no one succeeded with a drone startup. No one actually needs a drone to deliver goods to Gaza. The best and cheapest drone even imaginable right now still miserably fails in cost to carrying capacity against a 40 year old truck. Do you have more money than Jeff Bezos? He tried making this happen, and he already had a company doing delivery to customers. There is no market, you have no product and you don't even have a problem to solve. Find one, solve it, go to market. If you have to go defensive about feedback like this you would not want to meet an actual investor. When you tell someone you need half a million from them you better got your big boy pants on.

I know people try and people fail. I know people know more than me in this field. Yet when a field is interesting, when being inspired by an infinite source of ambition and willingness to learn and compete, I am of the opinion that is possible. I don’t think I can compete to the competence of the people in the field, not right now. But you need to start somewhere. Honestly how do you think people know so much? Certainly not by giving up with the idea of it. Certainly not by expecting themselves to be smarter than others within 4 months of learning a complex topic and industry. That is unrealistic and that is not what I think nor expect of myself. I’m merely bringing people together that do have the knowledge and skills to do something great. Combining the knowledge and skills I do have with marketing/ social media exposure and the knowledge I have about business. Surely agriculture might not be the aim. And I agree I need to find a market and solution first. So that’s what we’re doing right now. That’s why I asked if you even watched the video, because I was asking for suggestions on markets to tap into and I was brainstorming about it for basically the same reasons you just gave me. Do you have suggestions? Also, I am not trying to be defensive without reasoning. I disagree to some of your points, so I’m telling you that and why. I don’t mind having a call we could have good discussions. Always good to face multiple opinions.
