The more I understand Digi, the more I recognize just how massively different we are from the ground up. Like, our taste intersects kind of closely at the point of anime, but my approach to "my parents' cooking isn't great" has been to become a better cook. It's so much cheaper, and sometimes I end up at restaurants anyway but I always have the option to make delicious shit for like $2-3/meal. Living the life I want to would be a hell for Digi, and living the life he wants to would be a hell for me. And despite all that, and the fact we're in fields so unrelated as to be impossible to connect, I would probably cite his body of work as an influence on me as an artist.
@KuiperHaumea7 жыл бұрын
Theo Cambel You wouldn’t think an opera singer and an anime analyst would do similar things, but part of learning a role is analyzing a score-both the perspective I have on life and the way I analyze media have been changed to some small but noticeable degree by Digi’s content, and both of those things shape how you build characters. I’m still a student, but who knows! If in five years’ time digi is still doing this whole KZbin thing and I’m still watching/listening, he might have subtly changed a few thousand opera performances I end up singing in.

Our morals aren't nessesarily the same (me and Digi) but I highly respect him for being able to articulate himself in a way that's inviting and honest and genuine! Not just that...but there's stuff it seems come to him more naturally than to me, well at least based on what I can interpret from him...and yet with other things it seems (like you) sometimes the way we approach/like things intersects more than I care to admit. It's quite fascinating when you think about it, but I wouldn't have it any other way! There are a handful of other youtubers that have better morals and I relate to more (and help shape my art and blah blah blah), but Digi being so honest and putting out so much content more directly helps me as a person, even if its just via me taking what he says at face value and applying what's relevant to my life... ...and when you really think about it...isn't that kind of the point of these videos? :/

Break out from pickiness man. Food pickiness brings nothing but sadness. If something taste bad (like boiled brussel sprouts), then learn that there may be a different way to have it better (braised brussel sprouts). American Food can be so diverse, but really need a better food culture to teach our children how to cook and why to try new shit rather than the cheapest shit to serve kids in lunch rooms.

Almost all the advantage between restaurant food ove home made food is how much fat restaurants are willing to add to their food. If you go to say, a Paula Deen's, it's just going to be normal ass country food with 4-8x as much butter. You can season home cooked food to your pallete (I like pretty much everything a bit spicier than most people myself) and not have quite as much fat in your food.

This was definitely how my life was living with my dad in my childhood. We were dirt poor so we couldn't really afford any actual food. I remember the usual things we would eat were mac and cheese, nuggets, quesadillas, cheap plain soup, and 7 dollar pizza from Dominos (which we usually had to buy using coupons because we couldn't afford to pay the full 7 dollars). I remember my dad would usually go without dinner sometimes just to feed us. It's really depressing thinking back, but I know my dad was in a really bad place back then and was trying his best.

A Certain Unlucky Touma well, in portugal, you get healthy (and really cheap) meals. I remember basically any combination of cheap meat/fish with rice/pasta/potatoes and salad (lettuce/carrots/corn/peas/etc...). We also got a bowl of soup, bread, and water. We could repeat after the others had eaten and it was all for 1.17€

I'm lucky in that my dad is a great cook. He's not a foodie or anything, he just knows a lot of recipes and is always ready to learn more if they can feed a ravenous family of five. He got good at cooking because he left home at eighteen, and also because his diet at home hadn't been very adventurous or varied. Granny and Granddad weren't bad cooks at all, but I don't recall them ever making me meals other than mince and dumplings, meat/fish and chips (Granddad made his own chips. They were great.), or roast chicken.

Kahr Kunne What do you care what he does with the money people willingly give him. You don't condone his lifestyle so he shouldn't be able to do it and people shouldn't be able to give him money? These are grown men and women,who choose to give away their cash on something they want or appreciate. You have no say in this transaction. People destroy their bodies everyday with cigarettes and fast food. Might as well not buy music from musicians who eat out everyday. Might as well not buy art from artists who smoke weed. What a ridiculous notion. If you don't want to support,don't. But don't project what you feel is right or wrong to do on other people. It's unhealthy.

Nobody is arguing that, but especially for minorities (which makes sense since by default we're not in the other half of the statistics) most of our parents know how to make some decent food. My mom makes decent enough Chinese-styled food, my dad had to pick up the slack when her health started failing, and all of my Mexican friends' parents know how to cook. Just dont start with the hard stuff and instead go for easy shit like short fried meat, currys, everything potato. Also your probably just very used to the taste of tons of additives and salt and spices. Most restaurant food is so good cause its half fat and salt which naturally makes it more tastier.
