Thank you so much Venerable. This teaching was so very amazing and so vital to someone who truly wants to follow the Path. Without this right preception progress on the Path will be extremely difficult as we will continually be set back by the khandas. I am seeing this in action, being mindful of each preception as it arises naturally. This plus the book I am reading right now, by Ajan Cha: Food for the Heart, I am truly blessed. Thank you... Metta

As we walk on the path, we encounter more and more aid to help our mind development and Acharn's talk on perception is another help in our practice towards a better and more developed person. Acharn talked about perceiving impermanence and suffering but there are ten perceptions we could develop too, like the asubha etc but of course the talk will be too long so it behooves us to do our own reading etc.

AN 4.179 title 'Nibbana' Excerpt Ananda asks Sariputta "Why do some beings attain Nibbana in this very life?" "There's the case, friend Ananda, where beings discern, as it actually is present, that 'This perception has a share in decline'; 'This perception has a share in stability'; 'This perception has a share in distinction'; 'This perception has a share in penetration.' 'This is the cause, this is the reason, why some beings become totally unbound in the present life.'" BB footnotes explain...which may be interpreted as follows.."When perception and attention are accompanied by sensuality in one who attains first jhana, perception pertains to deterioration; when mindfulness is stabilized in accordance with its nature, perception pertains to stabilization; when perception and attention are unaccompanied by thought perception pertains to distinction. When perception and attention are accompanied by disenchantment, conjoined with dispassion, wisdom pertains to penetration" this explanation tells me that the perception spoken of in this sutta is gained via 4 buddhist jhanas, which is the 8th step in the 8-fold path. i enjoyed your music on Solitude too. Thank you. Shantha

I enjoyed this talk, but something in the veneration Westerners feel the need to show galls me. What, who are you venerating? Internal veneration and gratitude is one thing. Why do people feel the need to show it outwardly. It confuses the intention.
