A sample of my first full-length course: Bluegrass Rhythm Guitar Mastercourse! This course has been a year in the making and I wanted to make it as comprehensive as possible, covering everything from the fundamentals of bluegrass rhythm guitar to more advanced concepts. This course begins with the basics: chord shapes and voicings, strumming and syncopation. Then, leads into more advanced rhythm concepts like fretboard splitting, alternating bass and dynamics. We'll also cover passing runs and walk ups as well as how to think about playing fast in a live setting.

Yes, I have noticed that Bluegrass Rhythm players put greater emphasis on downward strokes. Especially at a chord change. I don't notice other types of music using as powerful a pattern as Bluegrass. I surmised it must be because the purist don't use amps so they have to really dig in with their pick attack. Is that it?

Super late reply but it's also because there is no drum set/percussion so the rhythm of the chuck from mandolin and guitar strumming sets the tempo and keeps the drive of the music going.
