Thanks. I play fingerstyle Electric and Some Delta Blues acoustic and have had a hard time finding ways to get things right. I find many advantages. For example, I can play the first part of SRV's Little Wing and there are huge advantages for fingerstyle (double stop, Octaves...) , until the solo -- then its like a wall. I can't play fast enough. I have been trying a pick for 1 hour a day, but it is frustrating. So your Flamenco style scale practice will probably work.

Good luck with it Paul. Speed picking fingerstyle will take time to develop, but if you stick with it, you'll get there! I've put a few videos online covering that technique over the years so hopefully there's some content to get you started with it.

Steve, are you familiar with an old song called "Buckaroo"?. It was played by guitarist Don Rich in the Buck Owens band. Anyway, I find using your flamenco pattern ideal for this tune. Great workout and a lot of fun. Thank you for the lessons. They have been really useful and enjoyable.

Lookin for something like this for the last 5 days or so, the only thing I don't know how to really go about is implementing the thumb and alternating the "walking" technique with the " thumb for the low 3 string- EAD and index middle and ring for other 3" technique xP... ah well, guess there shouldn't really be a wrong way going about it.. :) Subbed!

Hi Steve, great video thanks! Which finger do you use for your finger strumming technique? I presume is the first or second finger??

Hi Steve, thanks for commenting. I tend to use my second or third fingers to save too much wear on the first finger nail, but I can use all three.

great lesson! which string gauge do you use?
@SteveGilson7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It varies depending on the guitar. The black L5 behind me has 12's, the Les Paul has 10's the Strat that I use in some videos has 9's on it. At the moment the PRS in this video has 8's on it, though I haven't decided whether I'll stick with them or not.

My nails aren't even good enough for nylon string. They are so bad, I can't even play much with just the flesh in winter. I am trying some fingerpicks. Do you know anyone who uses those successfully?
