Wow they used good cameras for this.
@parasatc81834 жыл бұрын
Good cameras for the early 90s at least. This was, however, broadcast sometime after 2006. Hell, this even looks like it fits 90s professional standards in China.

A lot of people forget that the DPRK had a better economy and standard of living than the South in the 60s and 70s and that they still had their shit together in the 80s

They actually use good camera for this.
@G1CAAAAEO3 жыл бұрын
@Duffy63 They were 'fine' because they were totally dependent on China and the Soviet Union. But who cares they were doing relatively fine in the '60-'70s economically, it always has been a totalitarian regime with no respect for any human rights. That's more important than economics.

Jong-Il was a big film buff and fancied himself as a director. I bet he offered lots of "on-the-spot guidance" to the professionals.

From 2021, they are changing to DVB-T2 and turning off SD variants of channels, since they got HD for all stations in 2017

Good Lord what a bad estimate I made. The newest gravestone on this footage is from 2006. At that point they may have been using 20 year old camera equipment at the least.

@@parasatc8183 In the description it is written that it comes from the eighties, and Kim Jong Il looks young. I would have to be an idiot to believe this is from 2006. Even NK is not that backward.

@@parasatc8183 OK, sorry; actually, NK was a little too retro then. Nevertheless, the quality of scans from old cameras is excellent.

@@Ciniu TV and broadcasting has seen a major upgrade under Kim Jong Un. He apparently never liked the dated film format you see here and China have upgraded quite a lot of modern broadcast gear. Some of the original footage of Kim Jong Un from early 2012 looks like it's from 1985 because the equipment was absolute crap. He seems to have had all that changed.

@halfbakedproductions78872 жыл бұрын
@@Vladius32itf At home he was probably watching all the foreign HDTV broadcasts he could ever want. It's know that Kim Jong Il watched Russian and South Korean TV and also liked to surf South Korean websites. Russia and South Korea have been broadcasting in HD since forever and the Kim family could easily import a modern HDTV to watch it on. The TV would probably be Japanese (Sony or Panasonic) or South Korean (Samsung or LG) - meanwhile the regular North Korean plebs would have Chinese knockoff crap.

My old high school's media production program had better cameras than this. Granted my high school's cameras were camcorders, but still. They had better video and audio quality than this. Hell, they're still probably better than the KCNA's A/V equipment today.

NK has better equipmen now. They broadcast in HD via satellite
@halfbakedproductions78872 жыл бұрын
@@izumisagiri It was all upgraded under Kim Jong Un because he apparently didn't like the old film format you see here and wanted something a bit more modern and Westernised. Some of the early footage of Kim Jong Un in 2011 and 2012 looks like it was filmed in the 80s because the cinematography was so dated. China have donated a lot of quite decent broadcasting equipment and it's all slowly becoming more modern.
