Yep, it did - few years back they got some decommissioned stuff from Chinese national TV - and looks like they've learned how to use it. One thing that makes me laugh is that the reporters are holding wireless clip-on microphones in their hands instead of clipping them to their clothing or using standard microphones.

Watching a few of these now from various eras, the N. Koreans have pretty good music. If I recall, music class is mandatory & fairly intense over there. This shows if that is the case. Shame really because this music will never really ever go mainstream around the world as long as the nation remains as isolated as it is. Would love to see what they would be able to bring to the global music scene.

I've wondered about this too, but I think if North Korea ever opened up, they'd stop performing all of that traditional music because people wouldn't like it anymore. They'd find it old fashioned and repressive because it reminds them of the old repressive regime and people who like it would probably be mocked and ridiculed.
@StevenOBrien11 ай бұрын
? The first track is easy-listening music that the west largely moved on from 30-40 years ago (look up James Last or something). The second is an orchestral arrangement of a national anthem, which the west has plenty of. The third is a marching band piece, which, again, the west has plenty of.

@ventrillov11 ай бұрын
You'll find current streams on KCTV's Wikipedia page. I've recorded one of them via ffmpeg utility. I don't record those streams anymore since last year because they've became choppy (the user which hooked their satellite receiver probably has poor reception) - so recording and uploading such poor quality source is useless. If those streams are improved or another HD source appears, I'll get back to preserving KCTV's testcards at least.
