At the beginning of the Evo 3 build, there was a bet/argument with another person that it took a complex background to produce subguns, which according to Jan, who is a veteran of the UN mission in the former Yugoslavia and who saw a number of Croatian subguns like Šokac being produced in small workshops, was not true, so he start build this.
@notablediscomfort2 жыл бұрын
That's a silly thing to think just from a point of understanding how pistols work and anyone who actually thought SMGs require anything fancy should feel like a total goober. It would have been so simple to make pistol-based SMGs. Like imagine if they took a pistol with a stationary barrel, made the barrel longer, put a stock on the frame, made the magazine a lot longer, and put in a giggle switch. Done. Or even just use a pistol and slap some foldy rifle parts on it and a giggle switch. We never needed a Grease Gun. We coulda had SMG modded 1911s.
@ng.tr.s.p.12542 жыл бұрын
@@notablediscomfort Not really, a Grease gun is cheaper than an unmodified M1911. Plus most machine pistols of that era aren't all that practical in full-auto, even with stock.
@pseudonym502 жыл бұрын
@@ng.tr.s.p.1254 I wouldn't say 1911 because the operating mechanism is more complex, but if someone with no background wanted to make a subgun in that era it would probably look something like a modified blowback pistol. Funny you mentioned out of battery safety. Due to the ATF and their infinite wisdom, a part in the fcg had to be removed for US import and that part was basically an out of batter safety so US scorpions have a very slight tendency to fire out of battery.

Let be fair US gun laws are a complete crapshow because of how much writing aroudn the 2nd amendment they have to do.
@a.k47-742 жыл бұрын
They shouldn't be "writing around" it in the first place. It was written exactly as intended, and any "law" that seeks to put limitations in place is unconstitutional by definition.
@j-y2 жыл бұрын
That's a myth. If you look at the bolt and the trigger assembly (even on the semi-auto only variant), you will see that there is a firing pin block in the bolt and a lever in the trigger assembly. This, in-theory, should prevent the firing pin from striking the primer when the bolt is out of battery. However, in practice, OOB detonations may still occur because the factory firing pin block ocassionally gets stuck in the "up" position, unlocking the firing pin even when the bolt is out of battery. If you search online (especially Reddit), you will find that someone manufactured a titanium firing pin block which alleviates this issue. IIRC, CZ is also offering firing pin block replacements for bolts that have this issue, due to the factory firing pin blocks being slightly out of spec.

I’ve never clicked on a video so fast. I’ve been in love with this gun for years, and CZ is my brand for my special shooter hands. It’s ironic and humorous that the prototype Scorpion is exactly what everyone who owns a scorpion wants as far as ergonomics go. Sub 6” barrel, ar/standard style grip, speed holes for when your hand doesn’t work, and skeleton stock that allows to be fired whilst in the unopened position. If CZ were a savvy buisness they’d remake the new evo3+ design and push the prototype design in 2025. It’d curb the market so hard for pcc’s, cmmg would be shitting themselves.

But I've also heard about competitors slowly moving away from CZ again because their quality seems to be getting worse. Don't know if that's true, but I have some anecdotal evidence: I have this 6" long-slide version of the CZ75 SP01 (it's all CZ parts and assembled by some German tuning shop). The SA trigger wasn't quite perfect and I gave it to a gunsmith for tuning. He just told me he can't do a lot because my trigger unit isn't quite that good, with too much play. If I wanted a perfect trigger I'd have to buy a whole new trigger unit. That kind of pissed me off because the gun was 1700 Euros.

Oh, Ian on visit at Czechia? Awesome! As czech patriot a recommended try czech food as Svíčková (cream sauce with beef and dumplings). And of course have fun on shooting range :-)

As a pleb larper I love the form factor of the Evo 3. I understand why people are buying them to shoot on the range and courses. It's a neat and light little thing with good ergonomy.

Man... since you visited the Uherský Brod, I always hope that with next video, you show us another cool gun you saw there :D, btw have you heard heard about the zb 47 submachine gun? One day, I'd really like to see it in your hands, since they're really cool in my opinion. Have a nice day :)

A perfect Forgotten Weapon indeed, both by the era _and_ by the mechanism... I bet Ian would love to lay his hands on one. :-)

A gun you should check out is the cbj-ms. A Swedish pdw and weapons platform that functions as an smg, ar, and squad automatic weapon. Comes with an ingenious caliber as well.

I usually don't comment here, but I must say this video was informative and Ian is a professional as always. I was researching this myself, but much more enjoyable and easy to digest here. 🥰

Love this gun, favourite subgun. Have the airsoft replica and it feels really ergonomic and comfortable to play with, only complaint is the stock which i swapped out for an m4 CTR because the original was too thin

@@interpl6089 They don't think war is fun. They think competition is fun. Kids think shooting each other with water pistols is fun. People play computer games "depicting" war for fun. I did two tours on Balkan in the late 90s, and I can perfectly well decouple the concepts in my head, so I would assume most people with a full set of cognitive gears in their head can too.

@@interpl6089 Ummm that's not why we play airsoft bud. Also many cops and military members use it for training around the world. So 🤷🏽♂️ it has its purpose.
