Obviously all of them were raped and murdered. When all of them were watching the news on the t.v. and the reporter was reporting from locality of another rape victim, that victim was the little girl at the end because all of a certain the t.v. went off making a weird, squeaky noise and that indicated that the victim(little girl) just passed away. Right after that the door bell rang which meant the soul of the little girl left her body and reached the purgatory/heaven. As the soul of the little girl arrived in heaven the t.v. went on automatically and it indicated that the process of another rape victim's soul of leaving the human body and arriving in heaven is complete... Also the woman in the burkha was waxing but she had no hair on her leg, that's because she was burnt to death (as we the audience came to know about it later on) So, as a viewer we have to pay close attention and have to understand the subtleties and nuances to feel the full effect of this short film that the director wants us to feel. I knew that the little girl entering the room would be the breaking point for Rachel. That scene messed me up also. Yes I have watched *Four* also and *Devi's* theme and some dialogues are very similar to that of *Four* short film. *Four* is a 6 minutes long short film and it's equally impactful and moving. It didn't have any big names hence it didn't grab the attention of a larger number of audience. React to these following short films:- 1) Sparsh (K K Menon) 2) Kriti (Manoj Bajpayee) 3) Adheen (Sanjay Mishra) 4) Anukul (Saurabh Shukla, Parambrata Chatterjee) 5) Carbon (Nawazuddin Siddique, Prachi Desai) 6) The School Bag (Rashika Dugal) 7) Two (Silent short film)(Nawazuddin Siddique, Irrfan Khan) 8) Juice (Shefali Shah) 9) Rogan Josh (Naseeruddin Shah) 10) Chhuri (Tisca Chopra, Anurag Kashyap) Watch these short films. These short films are better than many big budgeted multi-starrer films...

Hey Guys! I’ve been involved with this film since day one - from its first draft. This film was actually inspired from Jean Paul Sartre’s play “No Exit”, which is about dead victims in a room. The director of this film shared the concept with me in 2016 at a house party where me and a couple of her other close friends agreed that she should go ahead and make it. She comes from a theatre background and has been doing plays since she was 17. Devi almost took close to four years in the making, and after the final release - the first thing it got hit by was a wave of insinuations. A very important thing to note here is that - none of them are proven, but people don’t read the question mark at the end of a claim, they read the claim and give the benefit of doubt to the person who seems victimised. The entire team of Devi is willing to go through this legally because they are all honest in this particular predicament and not scared. I think a speculation shouldn’t hold you back from fully appreciating a beautiful piece of art - a proven fact should :) Anyway - really dig what you guys do!! Hope this gives you a little backdrop :)

The lady who was doing prayers mentioned I am doing it for our souls to get peace as they all are dead but not in peace. So that room is to show people who died of rape and their souls are not at peace are sharing the space after death plus clearly, they showed different age groups, races of women and their clothing because lots of people in India believe Women themselves are responsible for Rape.

The number is increasing and has no enough space so they are trying to categorise them according to age , number etc. Which is obviously not fare. It also shows that there are victims of all religions, age and status. No one is spared. Whether the woman is wearing shorts or is in burka, whether she is educated or illiterate, a 50 year old or a child or even physically challenged, sick minded men find their own reason to blame them afterwards

I hope this movie goes to the Oscars. Not for winning the award, but so that more people around the world can see it.

I mean how can you not get it, especially when one of them mentiones, that hers wasnt from the incident (being the rape), infact it was from the trauma after (which means death).

Yes. Nathan is right. This is an afterlife setting. All the women in the room are victims of rape who later died as a consequence of it. The medical student signifies the infamous 2012 rape case of Nirbhaya. The girl at the end was an indication to the rape of a child in Kashmir that happened not so long ago. It also shows that rape knows no boundaries and women of all castes and ages are vulnerable. (The lady in the Burkha, the Marathi women, etc.) They shrug when the TV anchor says that the nation is outraged because it happens for a limited time only and then the world forgets about it. All the women in the room await justice. The bell signifies the arrival of a new victim and them debating whether to let her in or not as the room that they have been stuffed into was getting overcrowded with the amount of rapes happening regularly, the victim dying and arriving to that room in heaven.

Your assessment is correct . It is shown that they all were murdered . That’s why the girl who is studying is taunted on why she is studying when she is not going to give any exam .

This film is so heartbreaking. I was devastated when I little girl walked in the room. They showed it could happen to anyone. It does not matter it they are poor, rich, educated uneducated. They were murdered

Why would they be wearing those kinda clothes if they weren’t dead ? ... why is the medical student still in her apron , the business woman still in her pant suit ... it shows that’s what they were wearing when they got killed . Now they’re stuck here but they find solace in this very place. This short film also depicts how harassment cuts through each class of the society irrespective of their religion ,age, attire or socioeconomic background .

I have a busy life. So never really take my time to watch any trailers. The only time i do watch trailers is when I watch your trailer reactions. Get to watch the reactions and the trailers and this short film. Hate to see Rachel cry 😭

Jordan it's really not a "far stretch", them getting their head bashed in after being raped or being killed by strangulation. You read about one rape case from India and you'll know how correct Nathan is.

Nathan got it right at one go. They all were raped and murdered, and this was like the afterlife, like after death they are in a place where they won't be harmed anymore. The young girl was the latest case that was mentioned in the news Channel
@aeroshuvankar4 жыл бұрын
Nathan is completely correct ... They r all dead ... they were saying how they were murdered like with knives, beer bottles etc ... Then one lady said she died because of trauma ... Then the old lady says "we didn't get the chance to cry" ... Another time old lady was saying to the young girl "What the use of studying when u can't give the exam"...

Yes Nethan is right over here they all are souls in a room who are rape victims and murdered too.. it is a massage that kinda shows that the ratio of rape victims is increasing that there souls even not have space for someother one so stop rapping girls all over the world (or brutally punish the perpetrators so a person will think thousands times before commit this heinous crime)
@lalitchetan46784 жыл бұрын
They are dead. It is confirmed from the fact that the women who was burnt alive should have left scar marks if alive but there are no marks at all. In fact for that matter whoever was injured has no marks which is only possible in heaven/purgatory after it becomes soul.
