00:00 📅 Defcon 32 is happening this summer at the Las Vegas Convention Center, marking the 14th or 15th venue change in its history. 02:02 🏨 The Las Vegas Convention Center consists of interconnected buildings, and Defcon will take place in the West Hall. 02:37 🏙 While the West Hall offers the convenience of having everything under one roof, it lacks nearby hotel accommodations. 04:00 🏨 The Marriott, located across the street from the convention center, is a convenient option for accommodation due to its proximity. 05:00 🚝 The monorail provides transportation options, connecting various hotels and landmarks along the strip. 06:03 🚗 Parking is available at the convention center, with the Diamond Lot being one of the options. 07:12 💼 The Seagull Select Rooms, offering budget lodging, may not be the most upscale choice for accommodation. 08:07 🏨 Other hotel options include those affiliated with Hilton properties or MGM Resorts, albeit located further away from the convention center. 09:55 🏞 While some hotels may seem close to the convention center on a map, walking distances can be deceiving due to the spread-out nature of Las Vegas. 12:43 🎰 The monorail serves as a convenient mode of transportation, with stations near popular destinations such as the High Roller and Flamingo. 15:29 🤝 Informa, the company behind Black Hat, played a significant role in supporting Defcon, ensuring its continuation despite challenges. 16:10 🧡 Attendees are encouraged to stay connected and look out for each other, fostering the sense of community that defines Defcon. 17:25 🌈 Remembering Frankie Fangs, a beloved pet, highlights the importance of cherishing loved ones, whether furry or not. Consider making a donation to a local Humane Society in Frankie's honor.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear you lost your furry friend. I've lost several over the last few years from a big group of older kitties; the oldest was 17 when she finally decided she was too tired to keep going. I stayed at Circus Circus for CES, a few years back. It was walkable to the convention center, but that was in January, not the sweltering summer. Rooms were fine, old, smells like old cigarettes... It's walkable though. Pepper Mill is fucking amazing. Great place for drinks. Sending love for your lost four-legged friend.

Sorry to you and Tarah for your loss, a pet is a member of the family and their passing always hurts deep 😥 I hope your other cat, Whisper, is okay too. Funny I did this same analysis last week. I noticed you didn't mention the new Fontainebleau to the north. That's right across from the parking lot to the northwest. FB does have a southern exit. Check street view, it looks pretty good. It's not as close as the Marriott (it's close though), but honestly the FB hotel looks like it has a lot more going on in terms of food and things nearby. There does not seem to be much south of that hall near the Marriott.. Also I look forward to hacker takeover of peppermill, love that place! Sooooo sorry for your loss, they live just long enough to break our hearts. Stay strong.

Curious, I did see the Fountainebleau in some street view photos but it always looked so much further away that I dismissed it a little bit. I am going to check it out in person on my next recon on the ground
@wishbone11388 ай бұрын
@@DeviantOllam Curious what you find out, but looked pretty close to me on street view from the south side of the property. Checking property map, there's a nice south exit across from parking lot. Of course there's the obligatory trek through a casino property which adds to the travel time, but thankfully that should be mostly inside. Another bonus, closer to the workshop space.

I recently was at a convention at the West hall and I did much of this research via street view and so on working out what hotels seem close but really... aren't. Great digest of information here! Also interestingly the first place I ever stayed in vegas (also attending this same conference I was at again) was at the Rivera, and now being back for the same event on basically the same ground. But yeah years ago I made the mistake of "oh this is a couple blocks away, we can walk to it." NOPE. BAD idea especially in the growing heat after being up all night...

Back when defcon was at the Riv, I stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club, which is Hilton's timeshare property. It wasn't *too* bad of a hike *BUT* a solid half of it was through the Riv casino, which is now the convention center's parking crater and thus has neither air conditioning nor alcoholic beverages. Also don't know if HGVC still does hotel duty or if they're timeshare only at this point.

My first time in Vegas was for CES (that has it's own stories) but I was staying at the Strat and thought I could walk to the convention center. I did it, but damn that sucked. I've had multiple bad Caesars stays over the last few years, especially the Linq keeps getting worse every year. I'm probably staying MGM or Sahara this year and monorailing it. You can get a three day monorail pass for $30 of unlimited rides which is great. It swings by every 10 minutes or so I think, maybe less. You just need to be on the east side of the strip on one of the many stops from Sahara to MGM Grand.
