Timestamp 1:14, I think we do need to enter the opening entry both in the journal as well as in the respective ledger accounts from the start of new accounting year. The reason being, the assets like furniture, building or machinery etc don't become nil and they need to be brought forward in the next accounting cycle. Also Personal accounts may also have debit or credit balances even after the end of the previous a/c cycle which need to be shown in the respective ledger a/c's. Its only the nominal accounts which are reset entirely at the end of financial year and their balances transferred to prepare Trial Balance and subsequently P&L account. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Capital is the important thing in any business, without capital we can't start any business. In this problem all the important transactions are given except capital. That missing capital is the balancing amount 👍
